How to beat the Draconic Tree Sentinel

We are going to give some of the best tips and tricks that will tell you how to beat Draconic Tree Sentinel. Draconic Tree Sentinels are unique in their ability to deal with lightning damage, which sets them apart from other variants. For this fight, you should boost your lightning damage negation, since it unlocks a range of lightning-based attacks in the second phase that can be difficult to avoid.

During the Draconic Tree Sentinel’s first phase, it will inflict serious physical damage on you through powerful swing attacks. The boss will charge at you from atop its horse, smashing down with its hammer and backflipping. If you dodge roll right before the boss’s first attack, you’ll be able to avoid it entirely, and then when his second attack comes, dodge again to protect yourself. Draconic Tree Sentinel’s horse actually breathes fire, so be prepared to dodge again.

When you’re a certain distance away, the boss will stand still and its horse will shoot a fireball at you, which you can dodge very easily if you strafe sideways. The horse will also breathe fire onto the ground if you stand too close to the Draconic Tree Sentinel for an extended period of time. If you see the horse get up on its hind legs, you should run back immediately.

How to beat the Draconic Tree Sentinel: Second Phase

As soon as the boss raises its massive hammer with red lightning ringing around it, you know you’ve entered the second phase of the Draconic Tree Sentinel battle. We’re at the second phase of the fight, where the boss’ hammer now follows up with lightning in an area-of-effect effect after every single physical attack.

As before, getting your dodges right was crucial, but now it’s even more important, as a single misstep can spell disaster for even the pro warriors. In this phase, the Draconic Tree Sentinel will occasionally stand still while holding its hammer aloft, causing sparks to spread across the battlefield.

You will need to sprint away from any sparks that are present in the area in approximately two seconds, as these signals indicate where lightning will strike in two seconds. During this phase, you may want to turn off locking onto the boss, as it is arguably more important that you remain aware of your surroundings.

Things to keep in mind

To chip away at the Draconic Tree Sentinel’s HP, equip weapons or spells that target either the bleed or rot status effects. The Draconic Tree Sentinel has a lot of HP, so using these effects effectively is the best way to take it out.

Draconic Tree Sentinel is not hidden behind fog walls, so we recommend rushing in at the beginning with Torrent. The boss will tend to start off with a slow swing of his/her weapon that you can easily dodge. Once the battle starts getting serious, hit him with a string of easy hits.

Keeping the boss to one side should make it easy for you to swing your weapon continuously as you circle around. The Greatclaw will rise into the air, so run with Torrent to avoid damage and then hit it again. The first phase isn’t very dangerous, so you should be able to keep this going until half health is reached.
