The Lords of the Fallen Lightreaper is a challenging boss in the game. It is encountered shortly after defeating the tutorial boss, Holy Bulwark Otto.
In the world of Lords of the Fallen, the Lightreaper is a tough boss that you’ll face soon after beating Holy Bulwark Otto, the training boss. This powerful enemy comes into the arena right after Holy Bulwark Otto dies. It’s clear that going up against the Lightreaper won’t be easy. In fact, it’s likely that this boss will kill you. Don’t worry, though—the game is set up for this plot-related death. But you’ll have to face the Lightreaper twice more on your journey. So you need to be ready for each one. This guide will tell you everything you need to know to beat the Lords of the Fallen Lightreaper.
It’s important to know that the Lightreaper is not fighting by himself. He is followed by a dragon that breathes fire and helps him fight. This makes the fight even more difficult because the dragon’s hits can put your character in the Burn and Ignite states, which do damage over time. To fight this, you might want to use things and raise your character’s stats to get rid of these weak states.
During your first encounter with the Lightreaper, there isn’t much you can do other than accept your inevitable defeat. His attacks are swift and deadly, leaving little room for strategy. However, if you are in NG+ (New Game Plus), you may attempt to defeat him during this initial encounter, though it remains a formidable challenge.
When you get to Fitzroy’s Gorge, you’ll meet the Lords of the Fallen Lightreaper for the second time. You have a better chance of winning now, but the fight is still tough. To win, you need to know how to move both the Lightreaper and his dragon that breathes fire.
Most of the Lightreaper’s attacks are carried out when he is not mounted on his dragon. These include:
The Lightreaper can also use both of his swords to do a simple close-range attack and throw a projectile that follows you. You can avoid these strikes by dodging, but be careful when the projectile is close. As an alternative, the Lightreaper can charge at you and make a heavy stab with a leaping attack. To keep from getting hit, move or dodge the other way. The boss will charge at you and try to hit you with one of his swords, which is a similar attack. Again, dodging is the best way to deal with this.
In one very dangerous attack, the Lightreaper moves very quickly and swings both of his swords. To dodge this devastating attack, you can either block the whole combo, which is hard to do, or move out of his way. The Lightreaper can do explosive attacks in the air, shoot lines of fire, or fire projectiles after jumping into the air, ending with a flame-fueled attack, even when he’s not on his dragon. To avoid these fiery attacks, you can dodge, keep moving (be careful as the field gets smaller because of the lines of fire), or stay far away.
The key to victory lies in studying the Lightreaper’s moves, dodging attacks, and knowing when to strike back. After certain attacks, the boss requires a cooldown period, providing opportunities for you to unleash your own combos.
In the Upper Calrath Plaza area, at Bramis Castle, you will have your last fight with the Lords of the Fallen Lightreaper. The boss does the same moves we talked about before, but he doesn’t have his dragon with him this time. In addition, he can heal some of his physical damage during fight. It is very important to kill the Umbral Entity that is above the boss arena; if you don’t, it will be very hard to beat the boss.
Lightreaper will sometimes use his fire breath to do extra damage when he’s not riding his dragon. You will have to be careful to avoid these hits. You should find this meeting less scary since you know how he moves. You’ll get useful things after killing the Lightreaper, like a Vestige Seed, x25 Umbral Scouring, Lightreaper Flesh, and Lightreaper’s Umbral Parasite. Furthermore, you can get the Remembrance of the Lightreaper by going into the Umbral realm. This gives you access to weapons and gear.
Finally, it’s important to learn the strategies in this guide if you want to beat the powerful Lightreaper in “Lords of the Fallen.” Learn how to avoid his attacks, and when the time is right, hit back. You can beat this tough boss if you are determined and skilled.
Defeating the Lightreaper during the first encounter is exceptionally difficult, and it’s designed for players to lose this battle as it’s plot-related. However, in NG+ (New Game Plus), some players attempt to take on the challenge.
During the second encounter, focus on dodging the Lightreaper’s attacks and take advantage of opportunities to counter-attack. Study his moves, and be prepared to move away or dodge to avoid taking damage.
