In God Of War Ragnarok, boss fights are the primary challenges and you need to complete them to progress to the main story missions. There are so many powerful bosses that Kratos has to encounter in various phases in God of War Ragnarok. Thor is an intimidating boss with high stats and abilities. The boss fight against Thor is mandatory to progress further in the game. Kratos has to take on the boss twice. Thor comes with his basic skills and powers for the first boss fight and the second boss fight, Thor will come with full powers and HP. Defeating Thor in both battles is not an easy job for Kratos.

You will get Blood Debt Trophy and other in-game rewards for defeating Thor in both the boss fights. Thor is superior to Heimdall and Dreki, and you need to overcome his melee attacks and other dangerous moves to withstand the battle. After the battle against Bjorn, Kratos and Atreus will be able to battle against Thor in the Surviving Fimbulwinter quest. The second boss fight against Thor happens in Asgard during the seventeenth chapter of God of War Ragnarok, which is named The Realms at War. Thor is an inevitable boss and he boasts multiple attacks and powers. Every attack from Thor will be lethal, and you have to play tactically to overcome his moves and win this battle. Here are all the moves and attacks of Thor,

Clap Shockwave – Thor claps and unleashes a shockwave projectile or flames, you need to block or dodge it quickly

Lightning – This is one of Thor’s best attacks, Thor powers up his Hammer and hits it on the ground vehemently. After this red circles can be seen on the ground, make sure to not fall on this Lightning trap

Grab Attack – This move is indicated by yellow or red rings, you can parry and dodge them accordingly. Thor tries to grab Kratos and decrease his health, you need to be watchful of this move 

Mjolnir – Thor uses Mjolnir moves, this is a swing attack and you can block them with any shield or quickly evade

Hammer Attacks – Thor and Hammer makes a great pair, avoid his Hammer attacks at any cost to survive in the battle

These are basic attacks of Thor and he also attacks faster. Apart from these Thor infuses his Melee and other Lightning combos to deal massive damage, you need to protect Kratos to avoid unwanted damage.

Thor Boss Fight  Phase 1 – Walkthrough

Thor begins the battle with swing or melee attacks and he runs forward with his hammer to create massive damage, you need to block these moves. Pick your Shield, Leviathan Axe, and other weapons to battle against Thor. You need to Frost your axe to get an extra damage boost. You can also activate Spartan rage in different stages of the battle to avoid his clap and lightning attacks.

Kratos

Thor has two-handed attacks, melee attacks, and three-hit attacks. These are just his primary moves, and you will get to witness more of Thor’s attacks during the battle.

Lightning-charged and Electric-charged attacks from Thor are unleashed to destroy Kratos completely, you need to use any shield and block or parry them, or else Kratos will lose half of his HP in the initial stages itself.

You can evade most of Thor’s attacks by dodging them. And whenever Thor is down, you can use your axe and rage to inflict massive damage. You need to dodge in most parts and also avoid his melee attacks to avoid receiving unwanted damage.

Shockwaves, Lightning Bolts, and Lightning Strikes are his other moves, but Thor may only unleash them in the final phase of this battle.

Keep attacking him with your weapons and use Spartan rage, deal more damage to drain his shield. Once you reduce half of Thor’s health, the next phase of the boss fight commences.

Thor Boss Fight  Phase 2 – Walkthrough

In the second phase, Thor gets rejuvenated with his Electric-charged attacks. Thor uses  Mjolnir and Lightning attacks more. Thor also utilizes grab attacks, you need to protect Kratos as Thor can grab him from a far distance and attack. He can also unleashes lightning effects on his hammer to deal double damage.

Avoid all his moves and melee attacks, then you can use your axe and deal massive damage continuously. Keep attacking him and never allow Thor to use his other moves. Thor can also attack from the air, as he goes aerial to unleash lightning and hammer attacks, you can dodge and evade his moves.

Frustrated Thor goes back to his strength to unleash lightning attacks and strikes. Thor can stun Kratos with his lightning moves, you need to avoid entering those dangerous red circles.  Block his lightning attacks, and keep attacking him with your axe. Once Thor’s health is down to 1 bar, you can land your final punch and trap him. A cutscene pops up to double confirm that Kratos has defeated Thor and completed this boss fight battle. Get your rewards and XP, then you can complete the other remaining main story challenges and boss fights in God of War Ragnarok.
