Want to know how to beat Deltarune Jevil? There are two methods and we have the details of both methods for you in this guide.

Almost each chapter of Deltarune have a secret boss waiting to be discovered. Defeating them will uncover hidden lore that may play a role in the full game’s storyline. In the first chapter, players will encounter Jevil, a mischievous jester who is capable of inflicting heavy damage in just one turn.

It is currently unknown how much impact defeating Jevil will have on the later chapters of Deltarune’s story. There is no surety whether the method used to defeat him will have any further consequences. You might just get the reward items obtained at the end of the battle. Nevertheless, Jevil is mentioned by characters in chapter two, indicating that there is some impact from his defeat. So in this guide, we will tell you how to beat Deltarune Jevil.

Gameplay

Fight preparation

Players have two options to take down Deltarune Jevil, as is typical with most Deltarune battles: either by depleting his health or by using Ralsei’s Pacify ability after wearing him out. It is strongly recommended to fill up on healing items regardless of which approach players choose. To make more space in the inventory, players can discard Ralsei’s Manual. While going the violent route by depleting his health is the more straightforward method, the pacifism approach is far more complicated. The ACT effects affect Jevil differently depending on the current turn.

How to beat Deltarune Jevil: Violent Method

Jevil, the impish jester and the secret boss of the first chapter of Deltarune, is known for his difficult and complex battle. It’s not just his health that makes the battle difficult. Jevil also has five different phases that players must face with.

In the first phase, Deltarune Jevil will begin the battle by attacking with his basic moveset. As players reduce his health, he will move on to the next phase. In phase 2, which begins when Jevil’s health reaches 80 percent (2800) or lower, Jevil will introduce new moves and become more aggressive. Players will need to keep a close eye on Jevil’s attacks, which can deal significant damage if they’re not prepared.

Phase 3 begins when Jevil’s health reaches 60 percent (2100) or lower. In this phase, Jevil will introduce more complicated attacks, including moves that can damage the entire party at once. Players will need to stay on their toes and make use of their healing items to survive this phase.

Once Jevil’s health reaches 40 percent (1400) or lower, it will be phase 4. This phase is particularly challenging, as Jevil will begin to use his most powerful attacks. To make it worse, Jevil will also swap phases and bring new attacks at certain health thresholds. This can catch players off guard.

Finally, in phase 5, Deltarune Jevil will automatically enter this phase after he uses a “Final Attack” during Phase 4. This phase is the most difficult and requires players to be at the top of their game to survive. To defeat Jevil, players must carefully manage their resources and use their strongest attacks to whittle down his remaining health.

How to beat Deltarune Jevil: Pacify Method

To pacify Jevil, players will need to focus on lowering his tiredness level to at least 9. This is a difficult task to accomplish. It requires players to survive Jevil’s attacks while also finding ways to tire him out. However, players can start working on tiring him out as early as Phase 1, making it possible to pacify him before the end of Phase 4.

Just like with the violent method, Jevil will go through a series of phases, with each phase triggered by his tiredness level. Phase 1 is where the battle begins, with Jevil using a variety of attacks that players will need to dodge or defend against. Once Jevil’s tiredness level drops to 80% or lower (2 or below), he will enter Phase 2. There he will become more aggressive and introduce new attacks.

As Jevil’s tiredness level continues to drop, he will enter Phase 3 once he reaches 60% or lower (4 or below). In this phase, Jevil will start using more powerful attacks, making it even more difficult for players to survive.

Gameplay

Phases 4 and 5

Phase 4 begins once Jevil’s tiredness level drops to 40% or lower (6 or below), and this is where the battle becomes the most intense. Jevil will use his most powerful attacks in this phase, and players will need to be at their best to survive.

If players manage to tire Jevil out enough to enter Phase 5, he will automatically use a “Final Attack” before entering this phase. This phase is the most critical, as players will need to use Ralsei’s Pacify spell to end the battle without defeating Jevil. Once the spell is cast, players will receive the Jevilstail armor as a reward. This armor can be equipped by any character and offers some useful bonuses that can help players in future battles.

Rewards

Players who choose to defeat Jevil by attacking him will be rewarded with the Devilsknife weapon for Susie, which can deal heavy damage to enemies. On the other hand, players who opt for the pacifism approach and use Ralsei’s Pacify on Jevil after tiring him out will receive the Jevilstail armor. This armor can be equipped by anyone and provides useful defensive stats.
