Battles in Baldur’s Gate 3 can prove to be strong challenges, especially if you are new to the complexities of turn-based combat in role-playing games. A single misstep in a boss fight can lead to the downfall of your entire party. To gain the upper hand in your confrontation with Auntie Ethel, meticulous preparation is essential. Here are some expert tips to defeat the witch and her companions effortlessly:
Before engaging in the battle, ensure that your party members are equipped with the right spells. Key spells to consider include:
Focus on spells that can apply long-term debuffs to your enemies. A Cleric, such as Shadowheart, can be particularly effective in this regard. Spells like Bane can weaken Auntie Ethel and her allies, making them easier to defeat. Reduce your party’s overall encumbrance by selling any excess trinkets or unwanted items before the battle. Auntie Ethel will drop valuable treasures during the confrontation, and you’ll want to have space to collect them without delay.
Eliminate the Redcaps located outside the boss arena before initiating the battle. If the fight with Auntie Ethel drags on for too long, these creatures will join the fray, making the battle significantly more challenging. Given Auntie Ethel’s violent nature, it is advisable to have a party level of around 10 before attempting to face her. This will ensure your party is adequately prepared for the encounter.
Baldur’s Gate 3 Auntie Ethel, also known as the Green Witch, is a boss of considerable power and cunning. She employs summoned minions, creates duplicates of herself, and uses a hostage to maintain her advantage in the battle. You can use builds like Shadowheart, Wyll, Minsc, and Minthara.
Mobs will be in the first room when you enter Auntie Ethel’s home. Before going any further, it is important to get rid of these dangers. By doing this, you will stop Ethel from calling in more help for the final battle. Inside the den, you’ll find a room full of smelly gases. Use the Fire Bolt spell to set the whole area on fire and get past this dangerous obstacle. Even though this could hurt your party, it will get rid of the deadly cloud and make it less dangerous.
Auntie Ethel herself is the focus of the last part of the fight. If you didn’t kill the masked minions in the last room, Ethel will call on them to help her. It is highly recommended to kill them as soon as you enter the dungeon, since they can be very dangerous when fighting with Ethel. If the minions aren’t taken care of right away, the fight will be harder. Use Sildur’s Party Limit Begone mod, it expands the party limit.
From here on out, the most important thing is to keep a good balance between attack and defense. Your melee-focused classes should focus on Auntie Ethel, while your spellcasters should stay far away. Auntie Ethel is a strong opponent who can do a lot of damage. This is important to know. To escape a long fight, put all your damage-dealing party members on her and keep your healers and support characters ready to help.
During the intense battle against Auntie Ethel, you’ll notice that a young woman named Mayrina is trapped in a nearby cage. Ethel, in her hate, will toss a firebomb at the cage, engulfing the area in flames. Mayrina, locked inside, will suffer damage each turn she remains in the inferno. To rescue Mayrina and earn her gratitude, you must act fast. Check out some companion builds of Astarion, Gale, Halsin, and Jaheira.
To lower the cage and save Mayrina, locate and activate the Control Orb nearby. This will release the young woman from her fiery prison, ensuring her safety. Alternatively, if you possess the Create Water spell, you can use it to extinguish the flames surrounding Mayrina’s cage. This method is equally effective in rescuing her. If you happen to have a water bottle in your inventory, consider tossing it at the flames and the cage. This will douse the fire and prevent further harm to Mayrina. With good build, you can solve puzzles and survive the Underdark or other quests.
To save Mayrina from the fiery cage during the battle, you can either activate the nearby Control Orb, use the Create Water spell, or toss a water bottle at the flames.
It is advisable to have a party level of around 10 before facing Auntie Ethel to ensure your party is adequately prepared for the challenging battle.
