Have you acquired your Overwatch 2 Golden Gun yet? If not what is stopping you from flexing the golden cosmetic in the game? Here is a guide to unlocking the elite golden weapons in Overwatch 2.
Overwatch 2 lets the players customize their weapons and heroes in a variety of ways. As you level up more and more types of equipment can be gained with the points you earn. All the basic cosmetic items are bought from the in-game shop or can be unlocked using your Battle Pass.
But this is not the case with Golden weapons! You cannot simply acquire the golden skins by either purchasing them or using the Battle passes. There is a golden way to unlock it let’s see how!
Overwatch 2: How to Unlock Golden Weapons
If you want to obtain the golden weapons you will have to complete and win the Competitive Play Challenge and also unlock the Competitive Play game modes. This would mark your initial steps to acquire the elite golden weapons.
How To Unlock Competitive Play Game Modes
Players are required to win 50 games in Quickplay game mode. This mode can be accessed by those players who have reached level 25 or more in the original Overwatch, which will give them immediate access to Competitive Play.
After the Competitive Play modes have been unlocked, players can participate in matches to earn Competitive points. To gain the Golden weapons players should collect at least 3000 Competitive Points. Then, toward the end of the season, Overwatch 2 players will be ranked and get certain Competitive Points based on their rankings. The good thing about the Competitive Points is that you can still earn a few points despite losing a battle, but obviously, you earn more Competitive Points by winning the challenges.
To get your Golden weapons as quickly as possible it is advised that you try to win the games.
The Points for the different ranks are as follows:
- Grandmaster/Top 500: 1,750 CP
- Master: 1,200 CP
- Diamond: 750 CP
- Platinum: 500 CP
- Gold: 250 CP
- Silver: 125 CP
- Bronze: 65 CP
After gaining the Competitive Points players can now use them to access the Golden weapons.
Steps to unlock Golden Weapons in Overwatch 2
- Once you collect the required points, go to the Hero Gallery and select your favorite hero.
- Select the weapons option present at the bottom of the cosmetics list and select Golden, then choose Unlock
- From this window, you can access your new golden weapons and equip them for your hero.
However to earn 3000 Competitive Points you need to dedicate a lot of time to playing the Competitive mode.
**Note that if you have credit/remaining Competitive Points from the first Overwatch, you can transfer those points to Overwatch 2 when you log in to your account. This way you still will have access to all of your saved points
