In this guide, we will tell you how to get the God of War Ragnarok Nornir chest. Read till the end to get the locations of all chests.
For finding Apples of Idunn and Horns of the Blood Meads, Nornir Chests, also called rune chests, raise Kratos’ health and Rage, which are some of the most rewarding thing in God of War Ragnarok. To unlock Nornir Chests and claim their rewards, you need to solve a puzzle involving three rune symbols. In this guide, we will tell you all about the God of War Ragnarok Normir chest.
During your first visit to Svartalfheim, you can collect Nornir Chests in the Aurvangar Wetlands, Bay of Bounty and Jarnsminda Pitmines. If you want to collect Nornir Chests in the Forge, the Applecore, and Myrkr Tunnels, you will have to return later during the main story to Svartalfheim.
Located right at the beach in Aurvangar Wetlands, this Nornir Chest requires three idols to be broken to open it. The first seal can be found just outside the chest. The second seal can be found on an island behind it, and the third seal is located above it. As you approach the chest, start by freezing the geyser behind you. To get your reward, climb up and shatter the last statue.
You will see the glowing chest overlooking the water when you go left through the small opening after the water wheel opens the gate. When you dock, you can see the Nornir chest on your right. To open it, you must turn the three spinning mechanisms to the appropriate symbols: the D, the B, and the N/H. In front of the geyser you will find the first spinning mechanism, while behind the large metal structure behind the chest you will find the second spinning mechanism. Grab onto the ridge on the left, then spin around to reach the last mechanism.
With your Blades of Chaos, you must ignite the braziers near the Nornir Chest on Radsvinn’s Rig in order to open it. To the left of the chest, you’ll find the first brazier. On the right of the chest, you’ll find the second brazier. You can light the fire pit by throwing your Blades of Chaos through the gap left by Atreus, who will destroy the shimmering green barrels with an arrow.
The third brazier located on the opposite side of the mining equipment, behind a grate, if you look at the chest first and then spin around to look behind you. To raise yourself over the grate, use the grappling point. Then, swing your axe at the burning pot to start a fire and unlock the treasure.
You must ring all three bells on Alberich Island in the northeast of the Bay of Bounty before they stop chiming to break the seal. It is to your right as you look at the chest. Atreus will shoot the green-shimmering joint on the crane holding the bell to drop it into range. The second bell is behind you, to your left as you face the chest.
As you turn away from the chest, the last bell is also behind you and to the right. You may swiftly ring the bell with your Leviathan Axe by hitting the rotating mechanism, which will raise the bell. Prior to ringing the other two, ring this bell.
For the God of War Ragnarok Nornir chest to be unsealed, you need to find the breakable rune statues on Dragon Beach in the east of the Bay of Bounty. Start geysers by shooting cranes around the area with Atreus, then freeze them with your Leviathan Axe and you will be able to see the statues behind them, so remember their location, then smash the geyser with your Axe. There is a geyser directly behind the chest.
It’s hidden behind a grate over to the right. You need to walk around the back of the rocks to smash it. For the final statue, you must turn 360 degrees from the second statue and look behind you. To unlock the Nornir Chest, freeze the geyser and you will see the last idol.
After riding the mine train to the top of the mountain, you’ll find a Nornir Chest to the right, after passing the green heart painting on the rock. To reach this chest on your first visit to Svartalfheim, you must obtain a later item that allows you to destroy all three idols simultaneously. On the cliff-face, there is a statue to your left of the chest.
Along the cliff’s edge, to the left of the chest, is the second idol. Back beside the damaged railway, atop a rock, lies the last idol statue.
You need to light three braziers to open the chest on the left after you freeze the wooden chute in Jarnsminda Pitmines. The first brazier is right next to the chest. The second brazier can be found at the bottom of the ledge to the left. Next to the second brazier, there is a blocked passage that hides the third brazier. The third brazier is accessible by unfreezing the chute, but doing so also extinguishes the second. Jump across to light the third brazier, then refreeze the chute and light the second fire to unlock the chest to finish the puzzle.
During your first visit to Svartalfheim in God of War Ragnarok, you may notice that you miss two Nornir Chests as you go through The Applecore. As you return to Svartalfheim for your second main story visit, you will know what these chests are once you have a new piece of equipment. You will access them much later in your adventure.
Go back to the Applecore via the Aurvangar Wetlands and Sverd Sands on a return visit through the early areas of Svartalfheim. You will eventually face two revenants. The first statue is over the gap in front of the chest and you need to detonate all three rune idol statues at the same time to unlock the chest. Defeat them and you’ll see a point where they were guarding that you can jump up.
The second idol is also easy to skewer. To gain a decent perspective on the third idol, climb the two ledges to your right and then spin around.
Go back through The Applecore until you reach the spiral structure at the center. The jump point is at the top left, so you can use it to shortcut to Jarnsminda Pitmines. Go under the chute with the blue glow behind it and then through the door. A chest can only be unlocked if three statues are destroyed simultaneously. The first is in the storage room near the mystic gateway.
The second one is to the left of the rift, around the corner. To disclose it, blow up the pot. The third is located behind the water spout to the right of the chest, lastly. You must use your axe to halt the flow in order to uncover it before skewering it like the other players.
To access this chest in Svartalfheim, you must light the three braziers on the main mission path in the Myrkr Tunnels. As you look at the chest, the first is directly behind you. The second is over the grate to the left of the chest. To light it, you need to use linked sigil arrows. The third is hidden behind some boxes on the right of the corridor leading up to the chest.
God of War Ragnarok Nornir chest in The Strond, a chest in the Temple of Light, and a chest in The Barrens and The Below can be collected on your first visit to Alfheim during the main story. As soon as you can enter The Forbidden Sands, you can collect both Nornir Chests simultaneously – a Favour will appear in your journal – but you will need to visit Alfheim once you have the proper equipment to collect the second chest in The Strond.
The God of War Ragnarok Nornir chest located off the cliff to your left when you squeeze through the first breach, almost as soon as you enter the realm of Alfheim. You must ignite the three braziers nearby in order to unlock it. When facing the chest, the first torch to light is behind you.
The second is then located around the corner and over the cliff. The third brazier is situated on a high rock above the second brazier. You must climb back up to the point where you descended to get the chest, and from there, ignite the brazier.
After defeating the first light elves in The Strond, you find a Nornir chest on the main story path leading to the Temple of Light. To simultaneously destroy all three idol statues, you require specialised equipment that is only discovered far later in your adventure—you will know when you find it.
To the right of the chest is the first statue. As you face the chest, the second one is on the cliff behind you. Finally, you need to use special tools to crush the glowing rock behind the third and last statue, which is on the other side of the chasm to the left of the treasure.
Once you learn about light bridges inside the Temple of Light, you’ll find a Nornir Chest on your right. The first bell is right next to the chest. To open it, you need to ring all three bells before they stop sounding. To do all three, you have to reflect your axe off the stone in the stairwell. The second bell is behind a sound stone on the staircase. The third bell is on the balcony up and to the left of the chest.
The Barrens is an optional area that is available after you complete the main story arc in Alfheim.
The Nornir Chest is in the northern corner of the island, and you will need three torches to open it. You will need to light two braziers around the island perimeter before you can access the chest. Both are accessible around the island perimeter. You can then reveal the chest on the southern side of the island by throwing your axe into the Dark Elf hive material on the northern side. You can then light the final brazier on the structure’s roof with your axe by hitting the pot next to it.
You enter The Below during the Secret of Sands Favour quest. Through a wooden gate, you see the God of War Ragnarok Nornir chest, but eventually you have to jump over a gap by using your Blades. Once you are on the other side, drop down to the right and you will reach the chest. In the wooden gate next to the chest, you will find the first bell as well as the second bell.
The third bell is visible through a window in the building above the second. You must complete the quest path and destroy the Dark Elf hive material, as well as hop around the cliff with your Blades, to reach the third bell as well as the gate that leads back to the chest. After striking it, run down to sound the other bells.
You must light three braziers outside of the Nornir Chest to open it in the southwest of The Forbidden Sands. Using linked sigil arrows, you light the first torch outside the chest area on top of a rock. Another torch is also outside the chest area, which you light with linked sigil arrows. Finally, the last torch is much simpler. The Nornir Chest is right around the corner.
Alfheim has a hole under the library’s entrance to the east of The Forbidden Sands that you may crawl through. You must light the three braziers inside. Over the opening to the left is the first brazier. It can be lit with connected sigil arrows by lighting the fire pit.
The second brazier is then situated above the opening on the right. It is exceedingly challenging to light, maybe the most challenging in the main game. Use connected sigil arrows to start them, then fire another into the fire pit to light the torch. To maximise the distance and connect the fire pit and the brazier with just two arrows, the shots must be virtually perfectly aligned.
As a result of that frustration, the third brazier is above the second one, behind the sound-weak hive material. Link both braziers with sigil arrows and fire another arrow into the flame already lit to ignite it. In order to access the chest and clear the hive nodes, stand in front of the chest and align your axe throw so it hits the reflection stone on the right, bounces off the wall, and lands on the third node.
