Frey, the protagonist of the game, can use a variety of magical abilities, which are divided into four distinct skill trees: Purple (Frey’s Magic), Red (Sila’s Magic), Green (Olas’ Magic), and Blue (Prav’s Magic). These skill trees are based on elemental effects. In order to unlock the skill trees, players must defeat the respective Tantas.

How to Unlock Forspoken Magic Spells: Magic Skill Tree
Most of the story in the game revolves around confronting the matriarchs and other influential figures of Athia. Each of them is a master of a distinct type of magic. Frey begins the game with the Purple magic skill tree, which is based on Earth-elemental spells. To gain access to the other three types of magic, players must defeat three Tantas.
Red magic skill tree
The first of these is Tanta Sila, whose defeat will grant players the Red magic spells. These are for melee combat and are based on fire-elemental attacks. Upon unlocking this tree, players can unlock all of its skills. Red magic allows players to wield a fire sword as well as spells such as Arc Slice, Rage Slice, Blast Slice, and more.
Blue magic skill tree
To unlock the Blue magic skill tree, you must defeat the Tanta of Justice, Prav. This skill tree includes water-based abilities that allow Frey to glide on water instead of swimming, as well as powerful attack spells such as Fan Bolt, Chain Bolt, Cluster Bolt, and more.
Green magic skill tree
You can get the Green magic skill tree by defeating the Tanta of Wind, Olas. This skill tree includes wind-based spells such as Storm Dart, Seeker Dart, Pulse Dart, and more. Once you get both of these magic skill, you will be able to use all of the spells and attacks within them freely.
How to Unlock Forspoken Magic Spells: Mana
Mana is a currency that you can use to unlock and upgrade Forspoken magic spells. It’s easy to acquire, as defeating enemies and creatures in the world of Athia will yield Mana. Additionally, Mana pools that appear as blue and white light on the ground can give you even more Mana. Once you have enough Mana, you can open the “Magic” menu and unlock the desired spell.
Other ways to unlock Forspoken magic spells
Founts of blessing are a type of collectible that can be found in Forspoken which contain powerful magic spells. Interacting with these founts of blessing can unlock abilities such as Leap, Shimmy, Burrow, and more. They are easily distinguishable due to the bright light they emit and can be found in pools throughout the game world.
In Forspoken, you are not limited to the magic spells you have chosen. Most of the spells can be refunded, and the Mana you receive from them can be used to unlock other skills that you may be interested in. However, the magic spells unlocked by interacting with founts of blessing are non-refundable and cannot be exchanged for Mana.
