Polish tennis president Miroslaw Skrzypczynski is in serious trouble after being accused of abusing and molesting many young players in Poland for many years. Hubert Hurkacz has come out in support of the victims with a detailed statement on Twitter.
The 25-year-old Polish tennis player has called for strict action against Miroslaw Skrzypczynski, who also coached young players before taking up the role of the president of the Polish Tennis Association. A Polish member of parliament shared her frightening experience with Skrzypczynski during her teenage days when she was a player.
In a detailed statement on Twitter, Hurkacz wrote the following:
“No coach or guardian should use their power and position towards anyone. Any aggression both in sports and outside of it needs to be condemned and punished. I hope appropriate authorities will react to the press reports about the head of the Polish Tennis Association – Miroslaw Skrzypczynski. I stand with all victims of abuse.”
In the caption of the tweet, Hurkacz wrote: “I support all women and all victims of abuse.”
He is not the active Polish player who has come out in support of the victims of abuse as world No. 1 Iga Swiatek also shared her stance on the revelations that have jolted the tennis fraternity. Fans have lauded both players for their open criticism of the accused president and for calling for the authorities to take strict action.
Let’s take a look at how the fans reacted across various social media platforms to Hubert Hurkacz’s post.
