We finally saw Roman Reigns defend the Undisputed WWE Universal Championship on this week’s episode of SmackDown against the talented Riddle. After the match, we were treated to a huge surprise and that led to a huge match being scheduled for SummerSlam 2022.
Roman Reigns retained his title in the main event of SmackDown against Riddle. The match was epic with various twists and turns. Reigns was expected to win but Riddle did have his moments.
After the match, Reigns took a microphone and said that no one was left. He had wrecked everyone in his path like he said he would. However, much to his dismay, Brock Lesnar’s music hit. Reigns ordered The Usos to get out of the ring as the crowd went into a frenzy after getting a glimpse of the former UFC star for the first time since WrestleMania 38.
Lesnar made his way to the ring and offered a handshake. A reluctant Reigns eventually obliged. However, Lesnar tricked him and delivered an F5. Lesnar followed up with F5s to Jimmy and Jey Uso as well. A clear statement was made by the former WWE Champion.

The initial plan was to have Randy Orton face Roman Reigns for the title at SummerSlam 2022. However, an injury to the Viper has made WWE shuffle their plan and bring Brock Lesnar back into the fray.
After this week’s episode of SmackDown came to a close, WWE announced on its official Twitter handle that Roman Reigns will defend the WWE Universal Championship at SummerSlam against his arch-rival Brock Lesnar.
Reigns managed to unify the WWE and Universal Champions at WrestleMania 38, earlier this year, after defeating Lesnar.
