Hyper Light Breaker – Release Date, Gameplay, Platforms and more

Here is everything you need to know about the upcoming Hyper Light Breaker, the sequel to the 2D action RPG Hyper Light Drifter.

Heart Machine, the studio behind the action RPG Hyper Light Drifter, has launched Hyper Light Breaker, a new game set in the same universe. Hyper Light Breaker is a 3D game with single player and co-op modes that will be available via Steam Early Access in Spring 2023.

The upcoming game takes a completely different approach, with a fully 3D world and co-op gameplay. The trailer was released on March 31 to commemorate the 6th anniversary of the release of Hyper Light Drifter. The Overgrowth, an ever-changing stretch of land with many vast biomes, will be the setting for the new game.

Hyper Light Breaker Platforms

As of now, Hyper Light Breaker is only confirmed to release on Steam. There are currently no indications on whether or when players on other platforms will be able to get their hands on it.

But don’t give up hope because when Hyper Light Drifter was first released, it was only available on PC, but a console version was released a few months later. We believe the sequel to follow this example, probably as soon as it leaves early access, so PlayStation and Xbox users won’t have to wait long to try it out.

Gameplay Details

While the first game engaged players in a 2D sci-fi environment, the new game adopts a 3D perspective similar to Heart Machine’s most recent title, Solar Ash. The hoverboard and glider at players’ disposal will speed up exploring the larger portions of “The Overgrowth,” allowing The Drifter to glide across the planet with ease.

Since the next game is a roguelite, players can anticipate the biomes and world around them to alter each time they enter the game. Except for The Settlement, which will serve as a base of operations for players during their journeys. The prospect of a multiplayer roguelite sounds intriguing, and it could provide unrivaled replayability.
