Novak Djokovic put on a top-notch performance to dispatch Dominic Thiem in the Australian Open final

Novak Djokovic entered the history books, once again, by lifting another Australian Open title.

This was his eighth Australian Open crown, and the Djoker is perfect when reaching the final of this Grand Slam.

This was also Djokovic’s 17th Grand Slam of his career, but Dominic Thiem is yet to win one. The Austrian has lost a couple of French Opens to Rafael Nadal, and for a long time, he seemed ready to win this.

However, Djokovic turned things around after being down two sets to one. The Serbian seemed to be struggling with his fitness but won the final two sets to lift another crown.

Thiem put on a spirited show in Australia and praised Djokovic, and his team, for how their tournament went.

Djokovic reciprocated the feelings and had a lot of positive things to say about Thiem:

“Congratulations to Dominic for an amazing tournament. It wasn’t meant to be tonight, tough luck and it was a tough match but you were very close to winning it and you definitely have a lot more time in your career.

“I am sure you will get one of the Grand Slam trophies. More, more than one.”

Thiem was the one looking good for his first Grand Slam but things changed after the third set. The Djoker found his groove after looking sluggish and charged through to win the final two sets.

This was another fantastic showing in the final of the Australian Open, and Djokovic is right in saying that Thiem is set for Grand Slam success in the future.
