Ferrari star Charles Leclerc got a little emotional when the SF1000 was launched ahead of the 2020 F1 campaign

Charles Leclerc has spoken about the SF1000, the latest Ferrari launched ahead of the 2020 F1 season.

All the F1 teams are gearing up for the new season, and it seems the launch got Leclerc a little emotional.

The 22-year-old won a couple of races for Ferrari in his debut campaign, and added that things would be easier for him this year:

“Last year everything was new. I had to discover the whole team, even though I was in the Ferrari academy.

“Everything seems very big and very new, so have to adapt to all the systems and procedures.

“This year it will be a bit easier but on the other hand, there will be a lot of expectations so I’ve worked extremely hard to be at the level I want to be this year.”

The Monegasque also claimed that it was emotional seeing the new car, and that is something he feels whenever there is a launch.

Leclerc thanked his team for all the work they did in making the car too, and added he wanted to get it onto the track too:

“I think it is always emotional when you see a new car. The SF1000 is not an exception for that. I felt emotional when I saw it, and I think you can see how much work by all the guys in Maranello.

“What they have done to bring the car to where it is now. Now I can’t wait to be on the track and try it and to show all of you all the work that’s been done.”

Ferrari upbeat ahead of the new season

The Italian outfit were a distant second to Mercedes in the previous campaign, but it seems they are confident of doing well.

Although the SF1000 doesn’t look any different from the SF90 but Mattia Binotto claimed that there are some surprises in store with the new car.

The livery hasn’t changed at all, similar to Red Bull’s new RB16, and it will be interesting to see how things play out in Melbourne.

Ferrari need to up their game to get the better of Mercedes and they should be the closest rivals to the Silver Arrows.
