Alexander Zverev has revealed that he turns to former World No.1 Andre Agassi for advice
German tennis sensation Alexander Zverev has revealed that he is a huge admirer of Andre Agassi and seeks advice from the former World No.1 whenever he can.
The 23-year-old Hamburg native used to train with eight-time Grand Slam champion Agassi for a brief period. Speaking to the German Press Agency, he said:
“I have his number and if I need advice, I also turn to him.”

Zverev, who is currently ranked seventh in the ATP rankings, also claimed that he followed Agassi’s career throughout his childhood and used to idolize the American.
“I followed him all my childhood. I was always a huge Agassi fan, I used to wear this pirate scarf.”
The German star also wished Agassi the best ahead of the former World No.1’s 50th birthday this Wednesday.
Zverev’s star has been on the rise recently. After having made it to the quarter-finals of the French Open in 2018 and 2019, the German made it to his first-ever Grand Slam semi-final this year in the Australian Open. However, he was ousted by Dominic Thiem.
Due to the coronavirus pandemic, tennis has been forced into a shutdown since March. And it is expected to continue till mid-July.
Speaking on the current circumstances, Zverev insisted that he is hoping for a return to action, even if it meant playing in front of empty stands.
“At the end of the day I would rather play without a spectator than not play at all. Even if it were a shame. But if it’s safer, why not?”
