In a recent interview with Rashad Bilal and Troy Millings on the Earn Your Leisure Podcast, Shaquille O’Neal recalled the moment he realized he wasn’t among the top NBA earners.

“You know it’s crazy because I was looking at ‘NBA Richest Players’ in the airport, too. I questioned, No. 7?” said Shaq. “Damn, compared to these guys, I’m broke. Simply put, it’s inspiring. And the weird thing is, I never wanted to be rich,” he concluded. O’Neal stated on the show, “I just wanted to buy my mum anything she wants.” he further added

‘’I never wanted to be rich I just wanted to be able to buy my mother anything she wanted I said my mom used to cook us breakfast go to work come home to cook dinner never complain so that was motivating for me that’s the first thing I said I said when I get this money you ain’t gonna have to do nothing ever again in your life,” he continued.

Over and above his prior NBA pay, Shaquille O’Neal has made a sizable sum of money. The four-time NBA Champion works for TNT as a sports analyst. Additionally, he has a wide range of endorsement agreements with brands like The General Car Insurance, Icy Hot, Papa John’s, and his discount sneakers.

Shaq also shares ownership of other franchises, including Papa John’s, as well as more than 100 car washes, round-the-clock fitness facilities, and other businesses.

Shaquille O’Neal also naturally owns his 50 brands. He owns shares of Playboy, Elvis Presley, Marilyn Monroe, and JCPenney, as per the reports

Shaquille O’Neal and his relationship with his mother

O’Neal has accomplished a lot, and there’s no doubt that he wouldn’t have come close to accomplishing even half of it without his mother’s support.

O’Neal’s mother, Lucille O’Neal, encouraged him along the way to prominence in high school and college. She has had a tremendous impact on his conduct as well. She is still his authority figure and the giant centre’s support system and power source.

Lucille’s support for her kid is still going strong now. She discussed raising him and supporting him during his NBA career in an appearance on The Today Show. She claimed that he had severe restrictions on academics during his time in school (“no pass, no play”) and that she even gave up drinking to make sure that she never embarrassed him as more focus was given to their family.

She also said that her renowned mac & cheese is Shaq’s favourite food. She really guided the audience through the process of manufacturing it while she was on the show. It’s not too surprising that O’Neal enjoys that particular dish, but what is truly amazing is that, despite all of his years of fame and success, his mother still prepares it.
