Belal Muhammad also brought up his hatred for Colby Covington
Belal Muhammad is riding high after another impressive performance in the Octagon. The 33-year-old defeated Stephen Thompson in his last outing. Bully is now undefeated in his last seven outings and has risen to #5 in the UFC rankings.
While Muhammad has brought up a title shot against Kamaru Usman, he does have another Welterweight in his sights.
Bully was speaking to MMA Fighting and brought up Colby Covington. Chaos is the top-ranked Welterweight and second only to Usman. However, he has lost his two outings against the champion but is keen for another crack at the gold.
Nevertheless, Bully called out Covington and claimed that he would be a great match for his rival:
“That’s one I’ve literally been calling for, for years. Probably like five years,” Muhammad told MMA Fighting. “Even before he got into title contention, rankings, any of that. I’ve always wanted that fight. Just because he’s another guy that a lot of guys didn’t want to fight him because of his style. To me, I think my style is better than his. I think I’m a better version of him. I think I have better grappling, better cardio and way better striking than him.”

Chaos is one of the most interesting characters in the UFC. He has antagonised many rivals in the past and has made some rather controversial statements.
He has continued to do so, even in defeat, and Muhammad claimed that he would want to beat up his rival just because of how much he hates him.
“He gave Kamaru a lot of problems with that style. I think me fighting him, beating him dominantly, a guy that Dana White says would be the champion if Usman wasn’t here. I think would definitely put me over the top and a guy I would just like to punch in the face. Just out of pure hatred for the guy.”
A match-up between Covington and Muhammad would be great and it will be interesting to see what the UFC does next.
Usman does need a new rival after his latest win over Covington. And the winner of Covington vs Muhammad could easily get the next crack at the Welterweight champion.
