Why Patrick Cutrone would be the ideal back up to Harry Kane at Spurs
According to reports from Italian source Tuttomercatoweb, Tottenham Hotspur have made an enquiry about AC Milan striker Patrick Cutrone, with the north London giants weighing up a move for the talented Italian next summer in a bid to add cover for the prolific Harry Kane.
The same report claims that Cutrone is frustrated at the San Siro due to lack of playing time since the arrival of Krzysztof Piatek in January, with the Italian featuring from the bench in the last five Serie A outings. AC Milan would be prepared to let him go in the summer for a price of around £30 million, with the likes of Borussia Dortmund and Spurs expressing an interest in the 21-year-old Italian.
Cutrone, who enjoyed a successful breakout season in the Serie A last term, is regarded as one of the most promising young strikers in Europe. The highly-rated marksman has accumulated a total of 27 goals and 8 assists from 79 appearances for the Rossoneri across all competitions, returns which are quite decent given that a lion share of those appearances have come from the bench.
Held in high regard by the San Siro faithful, Cutrone is more of a natural No.9 who has earned rave reviews for his eye for goal and subtle movement inside the box, whilst also impressing with his instinctive nature and opportunism as a centre-forward.
Renowned for his game-reading, tactical awareness and poaching instincts, the Italian also excels with his clinical finishing, link-up play and aerial ability, whilst also possessing commendable physical strength to outmuscle his defensive counterparts. Despite not having too much pace, Cutrone is sharp and agile enough to make his mark in the Premier League.
To put things into perspective, Tottenham’s links with Cutrone should come as a piece of welcome news to the fans as a technically-gifted old-school centre-forward like him would provide the Lilywhites with the ideal back-up to Harry Kane. Both Kane and Heung-min Son have been overburdened with the responsibility to find the net and the arrival of Cutrone would certainly ease their workload, whilst also providing Mauricio Pochettino with an extra option in the final third.
Having failed to sign any of their potential targets this season, Spurs need to show more intent when the transfer window re-opens in the summer and Patrick Cutrone would be an excellent piece of business for them. The Lilywhites need to get the likes of Vincent Janssen and Fernando Llorente off their books to accommodate fresh faces and add more substance to their attack.

That said, Spurs need more depth in their squad to challenge for silverware on all fronts and the acquisition of Cutrone next summer should be at the top of Pochettino’s priority list.
