Why Chelsea must pursue a deal for former Liverpool star Suso
According to a report by Calciomercato, Chelsea are interested in signing AC Milan midfielder Suso this summer. The Italian giants are currently going through one of their lowest lows in the form of massive financial troubles, meaning they could be open to the prospect of selling their star players this summer.
And considering his skills and abilities, Chelsea must convince the former Liverpool star to return to the Premier League this summer.
After months of uncertainty, Chelsea supporters finally received some good news as the club unveiled Maurizio Sarri as the new manager. Ahead of the new season, the former Napoli boss must now work towards strengthening the Blues.
Over the course of the previous campaign, it became glaringly evident that the club required reinforcements in numerous areas. However, their midfield, in particular, must be solidified further before the new season commences.
The 23-year-old was a part of Liverpool’s youth setup and he rapidly progressed through the ranks and debuted for the first-team in 2012. Despite spending nearly 3 years at Anfield, Suso failed to make an impact and was labelled a flop due to his inconsistency.
Eventually, he moved to AC Milan in 2015. Upon arriving at San Siro, Suso struggled initially but as time wore on, the player managed to evolve and he gradually established himself as one of the club’s key players.
In fact, the 2016/17 season was definitely a breakthrough campaign for the talented midfielder and since then, he has only gone from strength-to-strength. But with AC Milan battling financial troubles, Chelsea must take advantage of the situation and bring him to Stamford Bridge this summer.
An attacking midfielder by trade, Suso is immensely versatile and creative. He created a whopping 71 scoring opportunities in 32 Serie A appearances last season, which speaks volumes of his potential.
With 8 goals and 7 assists to his name for the previous term, a player like Suso could be a great choice for Chelsea. The Blues have lacked a natural attacking midfielder for the longest time now.
Cesc Fabregas has entered the twilight years of his career whereas Ross Barkley has failed to make an impact so far. Hence, Chelsea must take the plunge and pursue a move for Suso this summer.
