Why signing Richarlison from Watford would be the right choice for Everton
New Everton manager Marco Silva is keen on signing Brazilian winger Richarlison from his former club Watford. The Toffees are also targeting Arsenal‘s Danny Welbeck, in case the Watford man doesn’t arrive at Goodison Park.
Silva must revamp Everton in order to build a better squad that can perform at a higher level when compared to what they did last season. The Portuguese boss is undertaking a long-term project in Merseyside and he will need quality players.
To that end, signing Richarlison will be a step in the right direction as the Brazilian has the quality and pace to terrorize Premier League defences. Having already worked with Silva, he could be open to the prospect of a reunion to get back to his best after stuttering through in the latter part of the previous season.
Here’s everything you need to know about the player and why he can make a difference at Everton.
Player Analysis – Richarlison
Age – 21
Position – Attacking Midfielder (Centre, Left and Right)
Richarlison is a typical Brazilian with blistering pace, directness and dribbling skills to get past defenders in a flash. The 21-year-old has quick feet which enables him to trick defenders and drive past them, at a successful rate of 1.2 per game. It allows him to create more space for a shot or a cross into the box, as he is quick at what he does. In fact, his speed often doesn’t permit any recovery time for the opponents.
The 21-year-old has an acute eye for fabricating goalscoring opportunities, having created 24 chances in 38 appearances. He slightly lacks stamina, due to which he tends to disappear in games which are stretched. Also, his fluffy finishing has let him down on more than a few occasions. But at the tender age of 21, he has time and room for improvement.
Conclusion
Marco Silva had managed the player in the first part of last season, during which he gave him the license to move forward without thinking of tracking back all the time. This enabled the Brazilian to be expressive on the ball and threaten defences.
