Premier League Team of the Week for gameweek 3

Round 3 of the 2019-20 season of the Premier League was highlighted by several mesmerizing individual performances, with some of the stars making the fans go crazy with moments of individual brilliance.

Indeed, the Premier League is arguably the most competitive league in the world and the fans are not strangers to witnessing several top-quality players outshine one another every week in pursuit of stardom.

With so many top-notch performances to choose from, it is never an easy job to select the Team of the Week, however, after analysing the performances of all the contenders in detail and going by the kind of impact each one of them had for their respective teams, we have put together the best eleven from PL gameweek 3 in a 4-3-3 formation.

Premier League Team of the Week

Kasper Schmeichel (GK)

The Dane couldn’t register a clean sheet due to of a fine header from Oliver McBurnie but the reliable veteran shot-stopper made a tremendous reflex save from close-range to deny John Lundstram a late equaliser in Leicester’s City 2-1 victory over Sheffield United.

Trent Alexander-Arnold (RB)

The young Englishman was one of the most impressive performers in Liverpool’s emphatic 3-1 victory over Arsenal at Anfield, coming up with as many as 6 key passes from the wide areas, one of which was an assist for Joel Matip’s headed goal off a corner.

Jamaal Lascelles (CB)

Newcastle pulled off a surprise 1-0 victory over Tottenham away from home and captain Jamaal Lascelles was very much a central figure in what was a resilient team performance outlined by sheer hard work and some resolute defending.

Paul Dummett (CB)

The Welshman’s inclusion might come as a surprise but going by the kind of impact he had at the back in Newcastle’s 1-0 humbling of Spurs, he certainly deserves a place in the week’s elite eleven.

Emerson Palmieri (LB)

The Chelsea man registered a staggering 7 tackles, 4 key passes and 5 dribbles in the 3-2 victory over Norwich City, so it doesn’t require a rocket scientist to figure out that he deserves a place in this team.

Declan Rice (CDM)

The West Ham academy graduate not only broke up the play expertly in the middle of the park in the 3-1 victory over Watford but he also contributed a lot with his energy, work rate and powerful driving progressive runs.

David Silva (LCM)

It’s really hard to choose between James Maddison and David Silva but now many would argue if the veteran is not given the nod over the Leicester City star after a well-rounded creative display in the 3-1 victory away at Bournemouth.

Mason Mount (RCM)

For the second successive week, the Chelsea academy graduate repaid Frank Lampard’s faith in him and found the net, whilst also impressing with his industry, creativity, vision and passing in the midfield. Realistically, he was one of the key driving forces behind Chelsea’s 3-2 victory away at Norwich City.

Felipe Anderson (LW)

Sebastien Haller grabbed the headlines with his brace in West Ham’s 3-1 triumph over Watford on Saturday but Anderson was arguably the Hammers’ most influential creative outlet on the day.

Mo Salah (RW)

How often can you keep the Egyptian wizard out of the Premier League Team of the Week? Indeed, not so often.

Liverpool’s talisman bagged a brace to propel his team to a 3-1 victory over Arsenal, ensuring that Jurgen Klopp’s side maintained their perfect record in the league after gameweek 3.

Tammy Abraham (ST)

Reinstated in the starting eleven by Lampard, the Chelsea academy graduate executed two brilliant finishes away at Carrow Road this weekend to open his account for the Blues and he certainly deserves the nod ahead of Aguero and Haller in the elite eleven.
