2019-20 Premier League: Team of the Week Round 6
Liverpool recorded their 13th straight victory in the Premier League with a rather straightforward 3-0 victory over Burnley at Turf Moor to go two points clear of Man City, who made light work of Brighton with a 4-0 scoreline at home.
Round 6 of the 2019-20 Premier League witnessed plenty of drama, excitement, end-to-end thrillers and of course, some fantastic individual performances which lit up the stadium and got the crowd on its feet.
With that in mind, let us put together the Team of the Week for round 6 assembled in a 4-3-3 formation:
Premier League Team of the Week
Hugo Lloris (GK)
The Frenchman couldn’t keep a clean sheet in the North London Derby but he made some crucial saves to deny Arsenal, especially in the second half, when the Gunners were absolutely dominating the game.
Aaron Wan-Bissaka (RB)
Man United’s new signing proved he is worth every penny once again with a solid all-round display in the 1-1 draw away at Southampton, making some crunching challenges and providing valuable width down the flanks in the attacking third.
Jannik Vestergaard (CB)
The towering Dane put in arguably his best-ever performance in a Southampton shirt, scoring the all-important headed equaliser and making a number of key interventions to deny United a way back into the game.
Gary Cahill (CB)
Two starts for the former England international and Crystal Palace have bagged six points in those fixtures, which pretty much sums up the kind of impact that he has made at Selhurst Park.
Enda Stevens (LB)
He was one of Sheffield United’s key outlets down the left on Saturday and provided the assist for Callum Robinson’s goal as the Blades came back from two goals down to salvage a point at Stamford Bridge.
Oriol Romeu (CDM)
It is not very often that the former Chelsea man makes it to the week’s elite eleven but the Spaniard was quite brilliant in the 1-1 draw against United at home as he thwarted the Red Devils with a number of key interventions in the middle of the park.
Matteo Guendouzi (LCM)
The Frenchman was an influential presence in a box-to-box role in Arsenal’s new-looking 4-3-3 system in the North London derby with his energy, stamina and combative approach.
A fine assist for Aubameyang’s goal should be enough to earn him a place in this week’s elite eleven.
Kevin de Bruyne (RCM)
The Belgian masterminded much of Man City’s attacking play in the 4-0 victory over Brighton and he will be looking to make a big impact this term after an injury-stricken campaign last time around.
Richarlison (LW)
The Brazilian youngster bagged a brace to get Everton back to winning ways against Wolves at Goodison Park and his headed winner towards the end of the game had class written all over it.
Sergio Aguero (RW)
It’s not quite his preferred position but it’s hard to leave Man City’s battering ram out of the elite eleven for the week after he starred with yet another brace.
Jamie Vardy (ST)
Leicester’s talismanic No.9 rose to the occasion and delivered a man-of-the-match performance against Bournemouth, starring with two goals and an assist to help the Foxes maintain their unbeaten start to the campaign.
