Predicted Chelsea XI to face Manchester United in the Premier League
Chelsea take on familiar foes Manchester United after their recent Champions League encounter. The Blues are in desperate need of a win after two stalemates in a row. What will concern Frank Lampard is the way Southampton kept breaching Chelsea with ease and snatched a point in the end.
Their opponents are in buoyant form though and it won’t be any easy. Frank Lampard will need to figure out a way to stop leaking goals. Otherwise, it could be a difficult 90 minutes.
Team News
Chelsea just have one confirmed absentee due to injury, which is Billy Gilmour. Frank Lampard will have his full squad to choose from. However, not a lot of changes from the midweek Champions League fixture can be expected.
Probable Chelsea XI
Formation: 4-2-3-1
Edouard Mendy (GK)
The reliable Mendy is back and is set to continue in goal. He has looked good so far and if he keeps his form, Lampard will be a relieved man.
Cesar Azpilicueta (RB)
The veteran defender is likely to be called in as this is a crunch game. An experienced head might be required.
Thiago Silva (CB)
A good showing in the midweek game and a clean sheet. Should provide some good defensive cover in this one.
Kurt Zouma (CB)
Had a great game alongside Silva and he might be the first choice for a while now. Looked very assured and calm.
Ben Chilwell (LB)
Ben Chilwell is the undisputed starter at left-back now.
N’Golo Kante (DM)
Kante is slowly getting into his stride and will hope for another assured performance in the middle of the park.
Jorginho (DM)
Lampard’s most trusted soldier, Jorginho will be looking to continue his excellent form.
Kai Havertz (AM)
Has blown hot and cold in the games he has played. Nonetheless, remains central to the team.
Mason Mount (RW)
One of the few academy graduates who is still a starter in most games. Needs to start showing numbers in front of goal soon.
Timo Werner (ST)
Should be very high on confidence after a splendid showing in the last league outing. Manchester United will be a more difficult test though.
Christian Pulisic (LW)
Will need some time to get back to his pace. Not yet his fleet footed self, as seen in the last few games.
