Predicted Arsenal XI to face Everton in the Premier League
Arsenal suffered a 3-0 humiliation at home against reigning Premier League champions Man City in their previous outing, as the Gunners continued their disappointing run of form under caretaker boss Freddie Ljungberg.
Currently placed 10th in the standings, the North Londoners will have a golden chance to bounce back from that heavy defeat when they make the trip to Goodison Park to face Everton on Saturday.
Everton are languishing in the bottom half of the table but they have shown signs of resurgence under Duncan Ferguson, churning out positive results against Chelsea and Man United in recent weeks.
Team News
Kieran Tierney is ruled out with a shoulder injury while Granit Xhaka is still recovering from his concussion and remains doubtful to feature on Saturday.
Dani Ceballos (thigh), Sead Kolasinac (ankle) and Rob Holding (knee) are all doubtful to make the trip to Merseyside at the weekend, although none of them has been ruled out completely as yet.
Manager: Freddie Ljungberg
Formation: 4-2-3-1
Predicted XI
1. Bernd Leno (GK)
The German international made some fine saves in the 3-0 defeat against Man City and he has always been the undisputed No.1 for the Gunners between the sticks.
2. Hector Bellerin (RB)
The Spaniard has featured in the last few games due to a hamstring injury but he is expected to be fit for the trip to Goodison Park.
3. Calum Chambers (CB)
The former Southampton man has been preferred to David Luiz in recent weeks and he might retain his place in the eleven, despite a poor showing against Man City.
4. Sokratis (CB)
He was equally lacklustre in the home debacle against the Citizens this past Sunday and Arsenal don’t really have too many other options in central defence.
5. Ainsley Maitland-Niles (LB)
The academy graduate started at right-back last week but an injury to Kolasinac means that he could feature on the left-hand side against Everton.
6. Lucas Torreira (CM)
The Uruguayan international has been in and out of the playing eleven this term but he is likely to continue if Xhaka doesn’t recover in time to start on Saturday.
7. Matteo Guendouzi (CM)
The youngster was quite below-par against Man City but his overall performances this season have given the fans something to cheer about.
8. Nicolas Pepe (RW)
The Ivorian didn’t really manage to replicate his heroics against West Ham when Arsenal played host to City last week but he has shown obvious signs of improvement in recent weeks.
9. Joe Willock (CAM)
Mesut Ozil was quite woeful in the previous outing and the youngster would probably do a better job if Ljungberg opts to give him a crack this weekend.
10. Gabriel Martinelli (LW)
The Brazilian starlet was by far Arsenal’s best performer in the disappointing 3-0 defeat against City and Ljungberg should back him with another start this time around.
