Predicted West Brom XI to face Charlton Athletic in the Championship
West Brom booked their seats in the fourth round of the FA Cup with a narrow 1-0 victory over Charlton Athletic on Sunday, thanks to Kenneth Zohore’s first-half winner.
The Baggies once again face Lee Bowyer’s side away from home in the Championship at the weekend and they will be the outright favourites to come away with all three points.
Slaven Bilic’s side were held to a 2-2 draw at The Hawthorns by the Addicks back in October and they will be keen to ensure that there aren’t any slip-ups this time around.
Team News
Slaven Bilic fielded a much-changed eleven against Charlton in the FA Cup tie but he is expected to revert to his usual options during the weekend clash against the Addicks.
Grady Diangana and Kieran Gibbs continue to be on the treatment table due to hamstring injuries and are not expected to play a part on Saturday.
Formation: 4-2-3-1
Manager: Slaven Bilic
Predicted XI
1. Sam Johnstone (GK)
Jonathan Bond stood between the sticks in the FA Cup tie but Johnstone has been the undisputed first-choice in goal for Bilic in the Championship this term.
2. Darnell Furlong (RB)
The former QPR man has impressed with his good all-round game down the right-hand-side of the pitch and he is expected to replace youngster Dara O’Shea in the playing eleven.
3. Kyle Bartley (CB)
The former Arsenal man has been one of the key cogs of West Brom’s backline this season and he should once again be amongst the starters for this one.
4. Semi Ajayi (CB)
The Nigerian international has put in multiple commanding shifts at heart of the defence in the Championship and he is expected to start once again on Saturday.
5. Nathan Ferguson (LB)
Kieran Gibbs suffered a recurrence of his injury against Leeds United last week and the impressive academy graduate is likely to return to the eleven in his absence.
6. Romaine Sawyers (CDM)
The former Brentford midfielder has established himself as one of the first names on Bilic’s teamsheet, playing a key role to help West Brom control proceedings in the middle of the park.
7. Jake Livermore (CDM)
The England international was one of the many players rested for the FA Cup tie but he is likely to return to the eleven on Saturday.
8. Filip Krovinovic (LW)
The Benfica loanee has struggled to make a massive impact, but with Diangana on the sidelines, he could once again get an opportunity to start.
9. Matheus Pereira (CAM)
He has been truly sensational for the Baggies with his creativity in front of goal and the fans will be hoping for him to continue his red-hot form.
10. Matt Phillips (RW)
The veteran was a notable absentee from the FA Cup matchday squad against Charlton but he is likely to feature against the Addicks on Saturday.
