Predicted Rangers XI to face Hibernian in the Scottish Premiership

Rangers romped home to a comfortable 2-0 victory over Motherwell in the Scottish Premiership on Sunday, thanks to goals from Nikola Katic and Alfredo Morelos.

Steven Gerrard’s side are currently a couple of points behind Celtic atop the league standings and they will once again be the favourites to grab all three points when they make the trip to Easter Road to face Hibernian on Friday night.

Meanwhile, Hibernian lost 1-0 to Celtic on Sunday and Jack Ross’ side could have their work cut out in churning out a positive result when they play host to Rangers later in the week.

Filip Helander (knock) and Steven Davis (foot) were notable absentees from the matchday squad in the 2-0 victory over Motherwell and they could miss the trip to Easter Road on Friday.

Alfredo Morelos is suspended for the game against Hibernian, having received the marching orders for a second bookable offence back on Sunday.

Formation: 4-3-3

Manager: Steven Gerrard

Predicted XI

1. Allan McGregor (GK)

The veteran pulled off a key save on Sunday and he has always been the undisputed first-choice for Gerrard between the sticks.

2. James Tavernier (RB)

The captain has returned to form with a string of good all-round displays in recent times and Rangers will once again rely heavily on the quality of his services from the flanks on Friday.

3. Connor Goldson (CB)

The former Brighton man has been a bit shaky in recent weeks but a clean-sheet against Motherwell should improve his confidence levels ahead of the trip to Easter Road.

4. Nikola Katic (CB)

The Croatian endured a couple of nervy moments at the back against Motherwell but he made amends with a goal and should retain his place in the absence of Helander.

5. Borna Barisic (LB)

Some of his crossing this season has been an absolute treat to watch and he should be one of the first names on Gerrard’s team sheet on Friday.

6. Ryan Jack (CDM)

The former Aberdeen star wasn’t really spectacular in the previous game but another solid shift in the middle of the park shouldn’t do any harm to his chances of starting against Hibernian.

7. Glen Kamara (LCM)

The Finnish international continues to be an influential presence with his excellent all-round game and Rangers will need him to rise to the occasion once again on Friday.

8. Joe Aribo (RCM)

The Nigerian has filled in the void left by the injury to Davis with some crafty displays in recent weeks and he should retain his place in the eleven for the trip to Hibernian.

9. Scott Arfield (RW)

The former Burnley man has always been a bundle of energy for Rangers with his tireless running in the final third and he certainly deserves another start ahead of Sheyi Ojo.

10. Ryan Kent (LW)

The former Liverpool man wasn’t really at his sparkling best against Motherwell but he continues to be one of the key cogs in Rangers’ attack.

11. Jerman Defoe (ST)

The veteran has largely played second-fiddle to Morelos but the Colombian’s suspension on Friday should open the door for him to get a start.
