Predicted Rangers XI to face Kilmarnock in the Scottish Premiership

Rangers romped home to a comfortable 1-0 win over Polish outfit Lech Poznan on Matchday 2 of the UEFA Europa League, thanks to a second-half header from star striker Alfredo Morelos.

Steven Gerrard’s side are now set to turn their focus back to the Scottish Premiership with a trip to Rugby Park to face Kilmarnock on Sunday. The Gers have won each of their last eight games in all competitions and they will be the outright favourites to stretch their winning run to nine when they lock horns against Alex Dyer’s men.

Rangers are currently six points clear of Celtic atop the standings, having played a game more. A win on Sunday will see them establish a 9-point gap over their arch-rivals.

Team News

Steven Gerrard doesn’t have any major injury concerns ahead of the weekend trip to Kilmarnock. Nikola Katic is the only long-term absentee with a cruciate ligament injury, but apart from that, the manager is expected to have a fully fit squad at his disposal.

Probable Rangers XI

Manager: Steven Gerrard

Formation: 4-3-3

Allan McGregor (GK)

The veteran capped off yet another composed display between the sticks with a deserved clean-sheet against Lech Poznan and should retain his place in the side.

James Tavernier (RB)

The Gers skipper has been in supreme form this season and will be expected to continue his good work on Sunday.

Conor Goldson (CB)

The former Brighton man has always been an undisputed starter at the back for Gerrard and should be high on confidence after yet another commanding display in the Europa League.

Filip Helander (CB)

Balogun played the full 90 minutes against Lech Poznan, so the Swedish international could get a start on Sunday if Gerrard opts to rotate his squad.

Calvin Bassey (LB)

Gerrard hasn’t hesitated to rely on the former Leicester City starlet and he could return to the starting XI against Kilmarnock to replace Barisic, who deserves a breather.

Ryan Jack (CDM)

He only featured as a substitute against Lech Poznan but is expected to replace veteran Davis on the teamsheet for the trip to Kilmarnock.

Glen Kamara (LCM)

The Finnish international remains a key cog in Rangers’ midfield and should once again feature among the starters on Sunday.

Joe Aribo (RCM)

The Nigerian got on to scoresheet in the 2-0 win over Livingston and should start against Kilmarnock after playing a cameo in the Europa League fixture.

Kemar Roofe started against Lech Poznan in the Europa League but the Colombian has always been Gerrard’s first-choice No.9. He is expected to be drafted back into the starting XI for the trip to Rugby Park.
