Predicted Rangers XI to face St.Johnstone in the Scottish Premiership
Rangers romped home to a comfortable 3-0 win over St. Mirren in the Scottish Premiership on Sunday, thanks to Alfredo Morelos’ brace.
Having already picked up two wins from their first two league games, Steven Gerrard’s side are now set to welcome St.Johnstone to Ibrox for their Matchday 3 fixture on Wednesday night.
The Gers will be the outright favourites to come away with all three points from this game while St. Johnstone will be hoping for a positive result following the postponement of their previous outing against Aberdeen under controversial circumstances.
Team News
Allan McGregor is expected to return to the starting eleven after missing Sunday’s game against St. Mirren with a minor knock. New signing Kemar Roofe and veteran hitman Jermain Defoe are unlikely to make the matchday squads, having only just returned to training.
Nikola Katic remains on the sidelines with a long-term knee injury.
Probable Rangers XI
Manager: Steven Gerrard
Formation: 4-3-3
Allan McGregor (GK)
Jon McLaughlin kept a clean sheet in the 3-0 win over St. Mirren but McGregor has always been Gerrard’s first-choice shot-stopper and should reclaim his position between the sticks on Wednesday if he is fit enough.
James Tavernier (RB)
The Gers captain was unlucky not to come away with a goal to show for his efforts in the last game and is likely to retain his spot in the starting eleven.
Connor Goldson (CB)
The former Brighton man had a solid outing on Sunday and remains a key cog in Gerrard’s backline.
Leon Balogun (CB)
The Nigerian international has shown positive signs of settling down at Ibrox following his summer move to the Gers and Gerrard should continue to hand him regular minutes.
Borna Barisic (CB)
The Croatian left-back has started the 2020-21 campaign on a good note and Rangers will need him to continue his good form when they face St.Johnstone on Wednesday.
Steven Davis (CDM)
The veteran only played a cameo off the bench in the 3-0 win on Sunday but he could be amongst the starters for this one if Gerrard opts to change his personnel in the middle of the park.
Glen Kamara (LCM)
The Finnish midfielder certainly deserves to retain his spot in the starting eleven after a composed all-round display against St. Mirren.
Scott Arfield (RCM)
The ex-Burnley star didn’t have much time to make an impact on Sunday but he could find himself back in the starting eleven against St.Johnstone if Gerrard wishes to rest Joe Aribo.
Ryan Kent (LW)
The former Liverpool man is yet to hit top gear in the opening stages of the new campaign but he remains an indispensable component of the Gers’ forward line.

Brandon Barker (RW)
Ianis Hagi had a really poor outing against St. Mirren, so Gerrard might as well rotate his squad and hand the former Man City star an opportunity to impress.
Alfredo Morelos (ST)
Rangers’ talisman hardly needs an introduction and he seems to be ready to tear St. Johnstone apart after bagging a brace in the last game.
