Predicted Rangers XI to face Standard Liege in the Europa League

Rangers romped home to a comfortable 4-0 win over lower league opposition Falkirk in the second round of the Betfred Cup on Sunday, thanks to goals from Jermain Defoe, James Tavernier, Calvin Bassey and Borna Barisic.

Steven Gerrard’s side are now set to turn their attention to the Europa League with a home fixture against Standard Liege on Matchday 5. Rangers are currently level on points with Benfica atop Group D and a victory on Thursday night will guarantee progression to the knockout rounds for the Gers.

The Ibrox giants beat Liege 2-0 in their opening group game back in October and the Gers will once again be the favourites to come away with all three points in the return fixture at home.

Team News

Gerrard doesn’t have any major injury issues to contend with heading into the midweek Europa League tie. Ryan Jack remains doubtful to play a part after missing the last couple of games with a minor injury while Jordan Jones and George Edmundson are both ruled out after breaking Covid-19 guidelines. Nikola Katic (knee) remains a long-term absentee for the Gers.
