The Belarusian star has been in stellar form this season. She has reached her fourth consecutive quarterfinal this season. In the round of 64, Sabalenka began her Indian Wells campaign by outplaying Evgeniya Rodina. Sabalenka won the match 6-2, 6-0. She had a win percentage of 78 on the first serve and saved 4 break points during the match.

In the round of 32, Sabalenka’s opponent, Lesia Tsurenko pulled out prior to the match. The world No. 2 faced Barbora Krejcikova in the round of 16. Sabalenka avenged her loss to Krejcikova in the quarterfinals of the recently concluded Dubai Tennis Championships, winning the match 6-3, 2-6, 6-4. Sabalenka smashed 11 aces and had a win percentage of 74 on the first serve.

The 19-year-old began her campaign in Indian Wells with a comfortable 6-2, 6-4 win against Cristina Bucsa in the round of 64. Gauff followed it up with another impressive win against Linda Noskova. The American youngster emerged victorious in straight sets 6-4, 6-3. Gauff smashed 7 aces and had a win percentage of 88 on the first serve.

In the round of 16, Gauff went on to beat Rebecca Peterson. The Swedish qualifier gave a good account of herself and also bagged the second set. Gauff played well in sets one and three to win 6-3, 1-6, 6-4.
