Top-seeded team of Katerina Siniakova & Barbora Krejcikova face the team of Laura Siegemund and Beatriz Haddad Maia in the finals of the 2023 Indian Wells on Saturday.
Barbora Krejcikova & Katerina Siniakova
The pre-tournament favorites have reached their second final in 2023. After winning the Australian Open title, Krejcikova and Siniakova have steamrolled their opponents in Indian Wells so far. They began with a comprehensive 6-1, 6-2 win against Veronika Kudermetova and Liudmila Samsonova in the round of 32. They converted 5 out of 6 break points in the clash. In the round of 16, Krejcikova and Siniakova had to fight harder than they have had to in recent times. They defeated the team of Taylor Townsend and Leylah Annie Fernandez 7-5, 3-6, 10-7 in a close encounter.
In the quarterfinals, the Czech duo eased past the third-seeded team of Storm Sanders and Elise Mertens, winning in straight sets 6-3, 6-3. Krejcikova and Siniakova did commit 8 double faults together but that didn’t cost them in the end. They carried on their good run of form against the team of Ena Shibahara and Shuko Aoyama in the semis. Krejcikova and Siniakova saved 7 break points and converted 4 out of 5 themselves to win the match 6-4, 6-2.
Laura Siegemund & Beatriz Haddad Maia
It has been a fine campaign thus far for the German-Brazilian duo. They began with a comfortable 6-4, 6-1 win against Eri Hozumi and Yana Sizikova in the round of 32. Siegemund and Haddad Maia followed it up with an impressive win against the third-seeded team of Lyudmyla Kichenok and Jelena Ostapenko, winning in three sets 6-1, 4-6, 10-7, converting 3 out of 5 break points.
Siegemund and Haddad Maia received a walkover from Jil Teichmann and Belinda Bencic in the quarterfinals. They annihilated Miyu Kato and Aldila Sutjiadi 6-1, 6-2 in the semifinals.
Prediction: Barbora Krejcikova & Katerina Siniakova to win in straight sets.
