Two young and talented players, Anna Kalinskaya and Alycia Parks collide in the round of 128 of the 2023 Indian Wells on Wednesday.

Anna Kalinskaya

Anna Kalinskaya

The Russian star has not had a great start to the season. She lost in the first rounds of qualifying at three tournaments – Adelaide International 1, Qatar Open, and the Dubai Tennis Championships. In the Adelaide International 2, she was ousted in the round of 16. The Australian Open followed where she lost to 13th seed Danielle Collins in the first round.

In the Thailand Open and the recently concluded ATX Open, Kalinskaya could only make it to the round of 16. Last year in Indian Wells, Kalinskaya progressed to the main draw from the qualifiers and defeated Harmony Tan and Alize Cornet before going down to Sorana Cirstea in the round of 32.

Alycia Parks

The 22-year-old has already made 2023 a memorable year for herself. She was a part of the USA team that won the United Cup. The big-serving Parks lost in the second round of qualifying at the Australian Open. She managed to defeat Caroline Garcia in the finals of the Lyon Open to bag her first ATP singles title.
