The experienced Denis Kudla locks horns with Alexandre Muller in the qualifiers of the 2023 Indian Wells on Monday.
The 30-year-old was a part of the triumphant USA team that won the United Cup. He played in the Australian Open where he lost to Ugo Humbert in the second round after beating Roman Safiullin in the previous round. In the Dallas Open, Kudla was ousted in the round of 32 by Jordan Thompson. The Delray Beach Open followed where Kudla avenged his loss to Thompson, winning a tight match in the first round. In the round of 16, Kudla lost to Tommy Paul.
Prior to the Indian Wells, Kudla competed in a Challenger event in Monterrey. He went down to Yosuke Watanuki in the quarterfinals.
The world No. 129 did not have a great start to the season but she has shown decent form as of late. He began with a second-round exit in a Challenger event in Canberra. In the Australian Open, Muller lost in the third round of qualifying. He lost to Radu Albot in the first round of a Challenger event in Quimper. In the subsequent Challenger event in Koblenz, Muller lost to Zdenek Kolar in the quarterfinals. The Qatar Open campaign ended with an exit in the first round of qualifying of the Montpellier Open. Muller lost to Thanasi Kokkinakis in the round of 16 of the Challenger event in Manama.
Muller had a good run in the Qatar Open as he made it to the quarterfinals. He followed it up with a runner-up finish in the Challenger event in Waco before coming to play in Indian Wells.
The head-to-head scoreline currently stands at 0-0 as the two players have never crossed paths as yet.
