The talented J.J. Wolf takes on Hungarian No. 1 Marton Fucsovics in the round of 128 of the 2023 Indian Wells.
The 24-year-old has produced some fine performances this season. He began with a second-round exit in the ASB Classic. The Australian Open followed where Wolf made it to the fourth round at a Grand Slam event for the first time. He went on to compete in the Dallas Open where he lost to John Isner in the semifinals.
Following the Dallas Open, Wolf crashed out in the second round of the Delray Beach Open. In the Mexican Open, he couldn’t get past the first round, going down to Taro Daniel 4-6, 4-6.
The experienced campaigner had a memorable start to 2023 as he lifted the Challenger title in Canberra. He couldn’t build on the triumph as he was ousted in the first round of qualifying at the Adelaide International 2. Fuscovics had a run to the third round of the Australian Open. His campaign ended with a loss to Jannik Sinner.
He was set to face Sinner once again in Montpellier but he pulled out prior to the match. Fucsovics returned to the court at the Qatar Open but he went down in a close battle against Roberto Bautista Agut in the round of 32. The Dubai Tennis Championships saw Fucsovics being defeated by Tomas Machac in the first round of qualifying.
This will be the second meeting between J.J. Wolf and Marton Fucsovics. The American star defeated Fucsovics in their previous encounter in the qualifiers at the 2022 Vienna Open 7-5, 3-6, 6-4. So, J.J. Wolf leads the head-to-head 1-0.
Prediction: J.J. Wolf to win in straight sets.
