No. 1 doubles player Katerina Siniakova takes on Germany’s Jule Niemeier in the round of 128 of the 2023 Indian Wells on Thursday.

The 26-year-old did not have an ideal start to 2023 as she lost in the final round of qualifying in the Adelaide International 1. Siniakova followed it up with a run to the second round of Adelaide International 2. She lost to Caroline Garcia after giving a good account of herself. Siniakova couldn’t get past the first round in the Australian Open, losing to Coco Gauff in straight sets.
The Czech star produced her best result in the Merida Open last month. She reached the semifinals with wins against Lesia Tsurenko, Ysaline Bonaventure, and Elisabetta Cocciaretto. Her campaign ended with a loss to eventual champion Camila Giorgi. Siniakova most recently played in the Monterrey Open where she was ousted by Kamilla Rakhimova in the round of 32.
Jule Niemeier
The German youngster has not had a memorable year thus far. She didn’t have a great campaign in the United Cup and was ousted in the first round of qualifying in Adelaide International 2. She crashed out in the first round of the Australian Open by top seed Iga Swiatek. Niemeier notched up her first win of the season in the Lyon Open. In the first round, she defeated Olga Danilovic. Niemeier lost to Camila Osorio in the second round.
In the Merida Open and the Monterrey Open, Niemeier couldn’t progress past the first round, losing to Panna Udvardy and Caroline Dolehide respectively.
