Ion Cutelaba made his MMA debut at CIS: Cup on the 5th of April, 2012 against Daglar Gasimov. He won his first fight via. TKO in just 27 seconds.
Cutelaba followed it up with 3 more wins in quick succession. Due to a rare referee error, Cutelaba was saved, after an original TKO win for his opponent was deemed a no-contest.
His first defeat came due to disqualification, against Michal Andryszak at CWFC 58. ‘The Hulk’ bounced back with 7 wins on the trot, which earned him a chance in the UFC.
At UFC Fight Night: MacDonald vs Thompson, Cutelaba made his UFC debut. Taking on Misha Cirkunov, he was submitted in the third round of the fight.
However, he recovered through a unanimous decision win over Jonathan Wilson, before going on to lose to Jared Cannonier.
Following two back-to-back wins, against Henrique da Silva and Gadzhimurad Antigulov, Cutelaba was pegged back by a loss against Glover Teixeira.
His last four fights have not gone the way he would have wanted to go. Barring a win over Khalil Rountree Jr., Cutelaba is winless in his last four fights. However, he bounced back with a unanimous decision win over Devin Clark at UFC Fight Night 192.
