Sydney Sweeney is one of the most popular actors in the world but is she an MMA fighter?
Sydney Sweeney has a couple of amazing shows on her resume. The American actor has featured in hit shows such as Euphoria and she seems to be a typical Hollywood star.
Sweeney is extremely popular on social media with millions of followers on Instagram, Twitter and TikTok.
However, what many will not know is that she is a trained MMA fighter. Sweeney was speaking to Marie Claire back in 2018 and revealed that she started practising the sport when she was just 14.
The 22-year-old added that she won the first competition she participated in when she was 18.
Sydney added that she was grappling mostly against boys who were above her weight category, but she got the win (h/t W Magazine):
“It was a grappling competition against all guys a weight category above me, and I got first place,” she said. “Those guys were probably saying, ‘Oh, we didn’t want to hurt her,’ but they were definitely trying. Everyone broke a sweat!”
During an appearance on the Kelly Clarkson show, Sweeney thanked her parents for pushing her into MMA and other activities.
They would push her to try a lot of things and Sweeney even trained with some of Ronda Rousey’s teachers.
Being a Hollywood actor is great but there are some restrictions too. The 25-year-old revealed that her acting career doesn’t allow her to be active in MMA all the time.
She had signed a contract which didn’t allow her to do a few things and MMA training seemed to be one of them.
The American does showcase some of her skills on Instagram from time to time, but it seems from her recent social media activity that she isn’t doing a lot of MMA training, possibly due to the projects she has.
