Former WWE Superstar Alberto Del Rio might be returning to the company soon
Alberto Del Rio made his initial departure from WWE in 2014 but made his comeback at the Staples Centre on October 25th, 2015. At the Hell in a Cell 2015 pay-per-view, he beat John Cena, beginning his first reign as the United States Champion. However, he was released by WWE in 2016.
After a long time, he made a tweet last night where he posted his picture with the United States title and captioned a wink which might indicate that he must be on his way to return to the company since his charges are now over.
Last year, Alberto Del Rio was a special guest on UnSKripted with Dr Chris Featherstone. He opened about his possibilities of a future comeback to WWE and revealed that he received a phone call from Vince McMahon and Triple H regarding a surprise appearance.
“I hope you know how it is with these companies, from one day to another. You get the call. That’s the way it happened back when I came back for the Hell in a Cell against John Cena. I was at home. I was watching TV with my kids, and then I got the phone call from Hunter and Mr McMahon, and they were like, ‘Are you coming or not?'” (H/t Sportskeeda )
