Is AEW star Darby Allin the ‘I like turtles’ kid?
Darby Allin is one of the top stars on AEW but there is a clip on the net of a young child with similar face paint saying “I like turtles”. Since then the social media is abuzz and speculations are rife that it might be Allin who is in that video.
Some people say it is Allin, however, there has been no confirmation of the same. Moreover, the also the name of the kid in the clip is not the same as the real name of Allin.
Despite there being no confirmation, and healthy banter going on between the fans on social media – Allin on Wednesday was mocked by the Gunn Club on AEW Dynamite with one of the younger Gunn’s saying ‘I like turtles’.
And this is going to make the wrestling match between them all more interesting. Darby Allin will be taking on Billy Gunn after the Gunn Club interrupted Darby’s interview during Wednesday’s edition of Dynamite.
Darby Allin’s, whose real name is Samuel Ratsch was born on January 7, 1993, is an American professional wrestler signed to All Elite Wrestling (AEW). He is also known for his appearances in World Wrestling Network promotions, wrestling for Evolve.
Ratsch made his professional wrestling debut in late 2014 for Blue Collar Wrestling in Portland, Oregon, under the ring name Darby Graves before changing it to Darby Allin.
After working at World Wrestling Network between 2016-2019, the wrestler signed for All Elite Wrestling in 2019. On April 12, 2019, Allin signed with the newly launched AEW. He made his AEW debut at the Fyter Fest, where he wrestled Cody to a time-limit draw.
The following month at Fight for the Fallen, Allin teamed with Joey Janela and Jimmy Havoc in a losing effort to Shawn Spears, MJF and Sammy Guevara.
After the match, the three men would blame each other for the loss and brawl backstage. Subsequently, a three-way match was arranged between all of them – where he lost.
In a few months time, Allin entered contention for the Championship, and challenged Chris Jericho for the championship, but lost. Allin then competed in a four-man tournament for number one contenders to the AEW World Championship but lost there as well.
On November 7, 2020, Allin won the AEW TNT Championship at Full Gear by defeating Cody Rhodes.
Earlier, this year in March, Allin issued an open challenge to the Dark Order as a tribute to the late “greatest TNT Champion of all time” Brodie Lee, which was responded by John Silver.
The 28-year-old wrestler defeated Silver to retain the title. He made further successful defences against JD Drake and against The Butcher.
He also successfully defended the AEW TNT Championship against Jungle Boy and Dark Order’s 10.
As a 5-year-old Allin was a passenger in a car when his uncle was driving while intoxicated. His uncle lost control of the vehicle and was killed in the resulting crash.
