On June 8, 1977, Kanye West was born in Atlanta, Georgia. When he was three years old, his parents had a divorce, and he relocated to Chicago with his mother. His father, photographer and former Black Panther Ray West, raised him. Donda C. West, his mother, taught English. West, who was raised in a middle-class household and later moved with his mother to China, attended Polaris School in Illinois. When he was five years old, he wrote a poem. By the third grade, he was rapping. He briefly studied art after high school before quitting to focus on music, much to his mother’s initial chagrin.
In the mid-1990s, West started his production career by creating beats for local artists. He gained recognition at nineteen for producing tracks on Grav’s debut album. He joined Hip Hop In 1978 and worked as a ghost producer for D-Dot. Unable to release a solo album, he formed the rap group Go-Getters. In 1999, they released their only studio album.
Throughout the late 1990s, West produced for renowned artists and groups, including Foxy Brown. He later contributed to Jay-Z’s album, revitalizing his career. Serving as an in-house producer for Roc-A-Fella, he worked with various artists and struggled to secure a record deal as a rapper. Finally, Damon Dash signed him to Roc-A-Fella to prevent him from joining another label.
After a car accident, West continued working on his album in Los Angeles. It was leaked ahead of schedule, giving him the opportunity to remix and improve it. With new verses, string arrangements, and gospel choirs, the album was delayed multiple times but eventually reached No. 2 on the Billboard 200.
The debut single, “Through the Wire,” peaked at No. 15, while “Slow Jamz” became a No. 1 hit. Despite doubts, the song “Jesus Walks” made it to the top 20. The critically acclaimed album earned West 10 Grammy nominations and led to the founding of GOOD Music, his recordand management company.
When Kanye West’s third studio album, Graduation, was released, it attracted a lot of media attention since it was up against 50 Cent’s Curtis in the sales race. Graduation outsold Curtis by a wide margin; in its first week, it sold 957,000 copies and debuted at the top of the U.S. Billboard 200 list.
West’s third number-one hit, “Stronger,” from the album’s opening track, had an impact on how house and electronica components were incorporated into hip-hop. After suffering difficulties personally, West started his Glow in the Dark Tour. Audiences were taken aback by his fourth album, 808s & Heartbreak, for its distinctive production and heavy usage of Auto-Tune. Hip-hop was significantly impacted by it, encouraging musicians to take chances with their work.
In January, the couple tied the knot privately after Kanye’s divorce from Kim Kardashian. However, rumours of an incomplete marriage certificate circulated until Bianca cleared the air by rejecting another man’s advances, proudly stating, “I’m married!” Bianca joined Kanye’s Yeezy company in November 2020. She earned a Masters in building design and became Head of Architecture for Yeezy. Born in Australia, Bianca founded her own jewellery brand, Nylon’s Jewellery, with a friend during university.
They opened a store after their Swarovski crystal creations gained popularity. Bianca worked as a design consultant and student architect before moving to LA in 2020. The romance between Kanye and Bianca began when they were seen dining together in January at the Waldorf Astoria. Kanye hinted at their relationship in his song “Censori Overload,” mentioning abstinence until marriage and referencing Kim negatively. One of Bianca’s sisters expressed happiness for the couple after the wedding news.
