Is Marcus Smart playing tonight? The Boston Celtics take on the Golden State Warriors in Game 6 of the NBA Finals on Thursday, June 16th.
The Boston Celtics will have to win Game 6 against the Golden State Warriors to avoid losing the NBA Championship to the Western Conference giants. Despite being 2-1 up in the series, the Warriors have clawed their way back into a comfortable position where they need just one win to secure the title.
The Warriors, with Steph Curry, Klay Thompson, Andrew Wiggins and Jordan Poole, have some of the best offensive players in the NBA. But the Celtics have been brilliant defensively throughout the season. But that is down to the brilliancy of Marcus Smart and Robert Williams.
However, there have been concerns over Marcus Smart’s fitness heading into Game 6 of the NBA Finals. The 28-year-old had been the victim of a rather rough foul by Jordan Poole in Game 5.
Earlier on Thursday, the Celtics released their injury list and Marcus Smart’s name was not on that sheet. This means that barring any late injury or setback, Smart will play in Game 6 vs the Warriors.
Apart from his excellent defensive displays, Smart has also contributed in the Celtics’ attack. In Game 5, he scored 20 points, grabbing 3 rebounds and 2 assists as well.
If Ime Udoka’s team are to stand any chance of winning Game 6 vs the high-octane Warriors attack, Smart will have to be at his best defensively and offensively.
