Matt Riddle was one star who avoided being cut during the WWE releases, but the fans are not happy with this
WWE continued their policy of cutting and releasing talent after a big deal was signed. Just a few hours after confirming that SmackDown was leaving Fox and heading to NBCUniversal’s USA Network for a deal worth $1.4billion, they decided to cut talent.
Several big names such as Dolph Ziggler, Rick Boogs, Elias and Emma were part of the 2023 WWE releases but Matt Riddle was saved from all of this.
The Original Bro has had an up-and-down time in WWE, especially with the sexual assault allegations levelled against him.
Matt Riddle was also accused of cheating on his partner by an adult star recently. However, Riddle posted a message saying he was doing great in his life and others were trying to take him down.
The former MMA star has been supported by some quarters, but a section of the fans are unhappy with him remaining in WWE.
Many fans brought out the double standards that WWE have used to release stars such as Mandy Rose over posting content on adult sites.
Of course, Riddle has only been accused of certain acts and has not been convicted of anything. He did fail a WWE drugs test and was sent to rehab, but he seems to have come back stronger than ever and is doing a decent enough job in WWE.
However, that still didn’t sit well with some of the fans and here are some of their reactions from Twitter.
Who all are part of the 2023 WWE releases?
WWE releasing stars on a yearly basis has become a bit of an unfortunate event. A lot of big names such as Braun Strowman, Bray Wyatt and Aleister Black have also met this fate.
This is partly due to WWE having a huge roster and not making the best use of talents. However, some might argue that WWE should not have signed talents when they can’t use them.
Also, WWE has three brands where they can split their talent up and use them wisely. The company also wastes talent by not using them properly or giving them good storylines.
However, the most confusing and frustrating part of the cuts is that WWE doesn’t need to release so many names. They are extremely profitable and this seems like another corporate move to get/save more money.
Some big names have been cut from WWE in the latest releases. Mustafa Ali, who was recently doing well in the company was released, however, it doesn’t seem like he was cut by the company but chose to leave.
Rick Boogs, Aliyah, Elias, Riddick Moss, Dolph Ziggler, Top Dolla, Shelton Benjamin and Emma were all cut.
The biggest shock has to be Ziggler, who is a former WWE champion. WWE also released other talent such as Dana Brooke and Barlow, and other names have been added to the list as more cuts are expected.
