Robert Stone debuted on NXT a couple of months ago but some have suggested he is a take on AEW president and CEO Tony Khan
Former TNA star Robbie E got a makeover as Robert Stone on NXT but there are some who are comparing him to AEW president and CEO Tony Khan.
While Khan doesn’t make many appearances on WWE-rival AEW, there are some similarities between the pair.
Both make big announcements, Stone with the mike in his hand, both wear suits and the NXT star also wears large glasses, just like Khan.
It is important to know that when Stone was in TNA, he didn’t wear glasses consistently, except for shades, so there seemed to be something brewing for sure.
Dave Meltzer was quick to notice the similarities and when questioned about this being a coincidence claimed there was more to it.
The look but more importantly, Robert Stone's analytics promo and character. Anyway, I was told by someone who would know and unless you find him doing an analytics promo prior to January 1, 2019, you have no evidence otherwise. https://t.co/hAavXWMk5d

However, many WWE fans were quick to point out to Robbie E, when joining NXT, posted several promos on Twitter that showcased his new brand.
The surprising thing was that these promos were in line with his current character. Most importantly, all these videos and clippings were there more than a year before he made his TV appearance on NXT.
That would also ensure that the Robert Stone character was created before the launch of AEW and of Khan coming into the wrestling business.
So, taking the look that he’s had since 2018 https://t.co/AnBTqOa5GA and same general speaking cadence but adding “analytics” is basing it on Tony Khan? Seems kind of flimsy even for “probably”.

WWE and AEW have been slugging it out in the Wednesday night wars when AEW goes up against NXT, and the viewership figures have been going up and down between them.
There have been shots fired at each promotion over the years, but it seems unlikely that Khan was the inspiration for the Robert Stone character, unless someone worked really hard.
Stone gets things moving on NXT
One of Stone’s first clients was Chelsea Green and the female star recently got her first win under new management.
The match featured Bianca Belair coming out and calling Charlotte Flair but it was great seeing Green pick up the win.
Stone, for his part, was a talented wrestler in TNA and it will be interesting to see if he ever wrestlers in his new avatar.
Their former employer, Dixie Carter, also wished the pair well after seeing them together, and she expected them to do well too.
NXT has seen several talents make it big over the years as they have gone onto the main brands. However, that transition doesn’t always work well.
Hopefully, WWE can develop the Robert Stone Brand a bit more before pushing him and his clients onto Raw or SmackDown.
