Is Rafael Nadal playing French Open? The 21-time Grand Slam winner will be making the trip to Paris despite a few injury concerns.
No other tennis player in history has more French Open titles than Rafael Nadal. The Spaniard has won the Roland Garros a record 13 times in his career. But Nadal has been struggling with injuries this season and fans have been curious to know whether he will play at the French Open this year.
Nadal suffered injuries in the last couple of months, impacting his preparations for a record-extending 14th Roland Garros title. The 35-year-old had a foot problem during clash against Denis Shapovalov at the Italian Open round of 16. It was later revealed that Nadal was suffering from a chronic foot injury which was making it difficult for him to play.
Despite the injury woes for Nadal, he is eager to play at the French Open this year. Earlier on Monday, Nadal shared an image on his Instagram page, in which he was practising for the clay-court tournament.
In the caption, Nadal wrote: ‘Today in Manacor, at the Rafa Nadal Academy… See you Wednesday, Paris’ confirming that he will be in the French capital to play at the Grand Slam event which begins on May 22nd.
Several tennis fans were also pleased to see Nadal training and in good spirits ahead of the 2nd major Grand Slam event of the year. Nadal clinched his 21st Grand Slam earlier this year at the Australian Open. In doing so, he pipped Roger Federer and Novak Djokovic, who are tied at 20 Grand Slams each.
