Rhea Ripley recently won the NXT Women’s title but has unfortunately been called a man several times in her career
Rhea Ripley is one of the top female stars in NXT and recently won the women’s title on the brand. The 23-year-old Aussie has come up the ranks at NXT rather quickly and beat Shayna Baszler for the title in the last episode.
However, there have been some unflattering and fairly distasteful things said about The Nightmare in the past.
The 23-year-old started her wrestling journey at several independent wrestling promotions before making it big at the Mae Young Classic in 2017.
She won the NXT UK Women’s title before becoming the champion recently, however, some people have questioned her gender in the past.
It is extremely disheartening to read comments asking if Ripley is a man or not, and the new NXT Women’s Champion took to social media to answer these crazy allegations.
The champ claimed that she didn’t care what people said about her. She also went on to say that people should not be judged based on their looks or for any matter at all.
Ripley further added that people needed to sort their own problems first and that haters were always going to comment.
What now for the champ?
Ripley broke Baszler’s 400+ day reign atop the women’s division in NXT and it will be interesting to see where WWE go with this story.
The 23-year-old is certainly one of the brightest talents in WWE and has made her mark on NXT extremely quickly.
A push to the main roster could be on the cards, but moving up to Raw or SmackDown doesn’t always transition well for NXT wrestlers.
Finn Balor has actually returned to NXT after spending a few years on Raw and SmackDown. Hopefully, WWE don’t destroy another talent by pushing them to either top brand, and she should remain on this one for a while.
