Roman Reigns claimed he was leaving WWE but that depended on one factor at SummerSlam

Roman Reigns might be the biggest name in WWE at the moment. The current WWE Universal champion has been excellent as the Tribal Chief and has dominated nearly every one he has faced.

Edge and Daniel Bryan have been no match for Reigns and this new heel version seems to be hitting all the right notes with his promos.

Reigns killed it on the microphone again as he faces John Cena at SummerSlam 2021. The pair met in the ring before the big clash on Saturday as Cena claimed that it would take just three seconds for Reigns to lose the belt.

The Tribal Chief wasn’t pleased with all this and decided to up the stakes. He made a huge promise to Cena by claiming that if he didn’t win at SummerSlam, he would leave the WWE.

Is Roman Reigns really leaving WWE?

A loser leaves stipulation has been played out several times in WWE but more often than not, the star has returned.

The closest example was seeing Sonya Deville returning to action despite having lost to Mandy Rose last year.

The pair patched up and things seem to be normal on the WWE front for Deville. Reigns is one of the biggest names in the business and this could be a way to give him a break.

He has been relentless during the pandemic era of WWE and Cena winning the title would be a huge pop.

However, Cena might not be a regular in WWE given his work in the film industry. He is also starring in a few series and it would certainly clash with his weekly WWE appointments.

It seems unlikely that Reigns will leave WWE. At the most, he might lose to Cena and then take a break before returning in some capacity.

Will Roman Reigns lose to John Cena?

WWE actually made a bit of a blunder giving away this stipulation from Reigns. It would be huge to see Cena win but his commitments in the film industry is a problem.

Reigns could still remain as the champion and if there is a DQ or a different ending, then Reigns might not actually have to fulfil his promise.

WWE has seen such stipulations take place several times and there have been only a handful of times when stars actually leave WWE for good, which seems to be the case for Daniel Bryan.

Bryan also lost to Reigns on SmackDown a few months back, and he seems ready to join AEW now. Reigns losing might not happen at SummerSlam, but even if he does, the Tribal Chief will not be leaving WWE.
