Ronda Rousey is one of the legends in the UFC but is she returning to the promotion for UFC 300?

Rumours have been doing the rounds of the former Women’s Bantamweight champion, Ronda Rousey, returning to the UFC.

A source told the Daily Mail (h/t MMA Mania) that Rousey was looking to finish her commitments with the WWE. She would then consider returning to have one final fight in the UFC at UFC 300 next year.

Some odds makers also listed Julianna Pena as her next opponent with Raquel Pennington and Holly Holm also in the running.

However, UFC president, Dana White, seems to have finished off these rumours. He was speaking after the latest Contender Series show and was asked by someone about the Daily Mail reports.

“Ronda’s having kids,” White said. “Ronda built this whole thing that’s going on with the women here, then her dream was to go to the WWE. She went there and did everything that she did there and achieved. She’s made s***loads of money. She’s moved on with her life.”

Rousey remains one of the greatest female fighters in MMA history. She holds a record of 12 wins and 2 losses. Her losses came during the end of her time in the UFC as she lost the belt first to Holly Holm and was unable to defeat Amanda Nunes for the title.

Her last fight in the UFC was in 2016 when she lost to Nunes. She didn’t formally confirm her retirement but ‘Rowdy’ ended up joining the WWE and winning several titles during her time there.

What happened in Ronda Rousey’s last UFC match?

Ronda Rousey came back to UFC after her shock loss to Holly Holm at UFC 193. That knockout was one of the biggest shocks in the history of the UFC and was also Rousey’s first loss in professional MMA.

Rousey returned to the Octagon for UFC 207 and was in the main event. She took on another legend in the sport, Amanda Nunes, and this was for the Women’s Bantamweight title.

However, the fight didn’t go as planned for the American. Nunes got a TKO win in the first round itself with the clash ending after just 48 seconds.

This cemented Nunes’ legacy in the UFC, but it was the end of Rousey, as it seems. Her move to WWE has been a bit hit-and-miss at times with some critiquing her actions in the ring and outside it.

Nevertheless, ‘Rowdy’ has won several accolades in the WWE. She has won the SmackDown Women’s title, Raw Women’s title, the Women’s Royal Rumble and the Women’s tag team title.

She is also the eighth woman to win the Triple Crown, meaning she has won three different titles during her time in the company.

Rousey returning to the UFC would be a big draw, especially with Nunes having retired. However, ring rust would be a real problem for her, and Dana White seems to have completely dismissed the rumours of the same ever happening.
