Is Shaq really buying an NBA team? Read on to know more about it
Shaq is one of the greatest players to ever play in the NBA. Repeatedly it has been proved that he was the best big man of his era. Frankly, no other Centre had the dominance like Shaq.
In his 19-year NBA career, Shaq has achieved a lot. He has been a four-time NBA champion, three-time NBA Finals MVP, NBA Most Valuable Player (2000), fifteen-time NBA All-Star, three-time NBA All-Star Game MVP, and much more. He is also a member of the infamous NBA 75th Anniversary Team. In short, Shaq’s list of accolades is quite long.
In his career, Shaq has played for many NBA teams but his best playing stint was with the Los Angeles Lakers and Miami Heat where he won all his championships.
Outside of his basketball career, Shaq is also known for being a flamboyant businessman. He has had many investments and ventures since his NBA days and according to him, he still invests in business. He is famously known for his Google deal which made his net worth a few million richer.
Apart from investments, Shaq is heavily into franchising. He mainly likes to invest in food franchises and has more than 200+ business locations till now.
Now, Shaq is planning to do something bigger when it comes to franchising.
Recently, in his own podcast, Shaquille O’Neal made a surprising declaration of wanting to own an NBA team.
Though he has not said it directly, Shaq intends to buy an NBA team either in Miami or in Orlando. His intentions are clear from the following statement that he made:
“I want to own a team in Florida,” O’Neal said. “You put it out. Anywhere in Florida. I want to own an NBA team in Florida.”
There you go. Seems like Shaq has already made up his mind about the two NBA teams situated in Florida. Because apart from Miami Heat and Orlando Magic, there is no other NBA franchise present in Florida.
Looks like Shaq is looking for the warm weather and the bright sun. Moreover, during his playing days, Shaq has played for both the NBA teams and thus shares a good relationship with them.
Finally, given his business acumen and deep pockets, soon, Shaq might really end up buying an NBA team.
