HBO is continuing Game of Thrones with the spinoff House of the Dragon even though the original series finished a few years ago. Additionally, they recently revealed that a second spinoff, A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms: The Hedge Knight, based on George R.R. Martin’s Dunk and Egg novels, is in the works.
Only the two that have been formally ordered are those. Many more are in the works at HBO, including a prequel to House of the Dragon about Corlys Velaryon, a program about the creator of Dorne, a follow-up to Jon Snow, and more.
The Jon Snow show has garnered a lot of fan curiosity. Do we believe there is a likelihood that one will occur?
Is the Jon Snow-centered Game of Thrones sequel still in the works?
A time back, George R.R. Martin made information regarding the Jon Snow program public. The idea means something to actor Kit Harington because he came up with it and approached HBO with a creative team already assembled.
That said, Harington has been silent anytime someone has inquired about the Jon Snow show, as he should; it’s best to remain silent until there is an official announcement to make.
Although nothing formal has been announced as of yet, something may probably be revealed sooner rather than later considering that HBO (or rather HBO Max, currently going by just Max) has authorized a second Game of Thrones spinoff project.
The temporary name is Snow.
After hearing the news, Game of Thrones author George R. R. Martin posted on his blog, “Yes, there is a Jon Snow show in development.” “SNOW is the show’s working title.”
The suspected release date for the Jon Snow spinoff
At the time of writing, HBO Max has not yet formally confirmed the spin-off series’ working title, Snow, therefore it seems unlikely that it will debut before 2024.
Since the second season of House of the Dragon is scheduled to premiere in 2024, it is more plausible that the Jon Snow spin-off will debut the following year, in 2025, but that is now only speculative. Martin confirmed in a blog post from back in June that the Harington-led spin-off is one of four live-action successor series being developed at HBO, all of which are still in the very early phases of production.
Who could co-star with Kit Harington in the spin-off?
As the actor who came up with the concept for the new program, Kit Harington is now the only cast member who has been officially confirmed.
Emilia Clarke, Harington’s co-star on the HBO series Game of Thrones, announced in June that she will not be returning as Daenerys for the show. She responded, “He has told me about it,” in response to a question from BBC News regarding the spin-off show. I am aware that it exists. It is taking place.
After a brief retraction, she continued, “It’s been produced by Kit as far as I can understand, so he’s been in it from the beginning. So, hopefully, if it occurs, what you’ll be witnessing has Kit Harington’s seal of approval.
When asked if she would be showing up, she responded, “No, I think I’m done.”
Of course, the door is still open for those who made it through the events of Game of Thrones, such as Tyrion (Peter Dinklage), the Lord of Casterly Rock, and Jon’s sisters Arya (Maisie Williams) and Sansa (Sophie Turner), as well as his brother Bran (Isaac Hempstead Wright), who turned into a Three-Eyed Raven.
