Tomasso Ciampa faced off against Tony D’ Angelo at WWE NXT Stand and Deliver. Is he leaving WWE?
Former WWE NXT Champion Tomasso Ciampa clashed with Tony D’ Angelo at WWE NXT Stand and Deliver in what appears to be Ciampa’s final match on NXT.
D’ Angelo has been talking for weeks about how he had big plans around WWE NXT Stand and Deliver to become the new Don of NXT, but on the other hand, Ciampa has talked in the promo that his NXT days are coming to an end. He even took to social media and announced that his match against Tony D’ Angelo would be his last for the brand.
Ciampa’s NXT journey began back in 2015 when he teamed with long-time friend Johnny Gargano to complete the Dusty Rhodes Tag Team Classic. But soon, the friendship turned into rivalry as the feud between the two continued. In the end, Ciampa defeated Gargano to claim the NXT Championship in July 2018.
Even when the NXT revived as NXT 2.0, Ciampa kept winning the NXT Championship for a second time on the inaugural episode. After that, however, he lost his championship to Bron Breakker.
Tommaso Ciampa made a special entry to the ring as he paid tribute to Triple H, spitting water into the air before doing Shawn Michaels’s signature pose.
It was a good clash between the two as Ciampa refused to unite against his opponent Angelo, but a DDT on the concrete floor and a kick to the head resulted in D’Angelo winning the bout.
As the match got over, Ciampa was given a standing ovation as he kissed the mat before heading to the ramp. But as he reached the top. Triple H made an entrance as he came out to embrace the star. Hunter raised Ciampa’s hand as the former NXT Champion departed.
