Edge hasn’t wrestled for years but could be set for a return in the WWE ring

Former WWE champion Edge hasn’t wrestled much since retiring from in-ring action. However, reports have suggested that the Rated-R superstar has signed a new long-term deal with WWE.

PWInsider claims that the former champion has signed a new deal with the company and that could include more appearances in the future.

Edge won several titles during his time in WWE but had to cut his time in the ring short. He has featured in several shows on the WWE network and was involved in physical capacity recently.

That happened at SummerSlam where he speared Elias and it will be interesting to see if he makes a return to WWE soon.

Will he follow the route of another star?

Although the Rated-R Superstar would be an incredible draw should he return. The Canadian retired from in-ring business in 2011 after being diagnosed with cervical spinal stenosis.

Edge has never openly stated that he is coming back to the ring. It would be risky to bring him into competitive action, given the serious nature of his injury.

However, Daniel Bryan is an example of a star coming back from a serious injury and doing well.

The former WWE champion missed a couple of years and was acting as the SmackDown GM before making a return to wrestling.

Bryan was evaluated by several doctors before being given the all-clear to wrestle. WWE has to ensure the safety of their stars first, and that would be the case for Edge too.

The Rated-R Superstar could feature in one or two mini appearances, like the Royal Rumble. That PPV has seen many former stars comeback for a special appearance, and Edge’s return would get a major pop from the crowd too.
